Gionino's Pizzeria of Dover/New Philadelphia — Restaurant in Dover

I'll admit I've had wait time issues before too (2 hrs) but they handled it well enough. My hometown had a Gionino's growing up and I love how all these years later it's still the same exact pie that I used to sit down to eat during sporting events with my family. It's a very nostalgic pizza for me obviously, as all the best hometown pizzerias are for many of us despite it being a chain and not a "mom n pop" place like the 20 different pizzerias in Dover/ phila that don't deliver and wonder why business is slow 🤔

They're by the best of the options that do deliver. The sauce has always been the stand out feature for me. Perfect balance of savory, with a bit of zest and a tiny bit of sweetness (though it's not anywhere near as sweet as those places you're thinking of).

The cheese seems like a blend too rather than just mozz (I'm guessing a little prov and a dash or two of pecorino and/ or grana padano. It's very good. The dough is light and tasty. Toppings are fresh and flavorful. The added dusting of seasoning is a nice finish and it makes their cheese pizza one of, if not the best around.

Overall their quality is every bit as good as any of the 20 "mom n pop" shops around here that think their pizza is god's gift to humanity so they don't need to worry about delivery (I seriously can't imagine how much business those places lose because of it). It's nice having a place that delivers and isn't some yucky fast food "pizza" like the hut and domino.

I don’t like leaving bad reviews, this happened like 2 weeks ago and I’m scrolling through food options and they popped up. Here is what happened. I ordered one large pizza (2 toppings), 24 wings (traditional) and a 2 liter. I also had it delivered. I’m approximately 7-10 mins away. When she told me my total I was a bit shocked, and I asked again and she said $67. I said “uh okay” and we hung up. I then started thinking “maybe she said $57” which is still high but not as high as $67. Driver shows up an hour and a half later and sure enough it was $67. I still tipped the man so it was $72 for a large pizza (2 toppings), 24 wings and a 2 liter. The 2 stars is not for the taste, because I want to be clear that I love Gioninos pizza. I just moved down here and haven’t had one near me for 5 years so I was happy to be able to eat it now. The price was insane. I paid it because we just moved in, we were hungry, and I know their food is good. I paid it and my wife and I just decided maybe we won’t order from there again.

My family was in town visiting and decided to get Gioninos because they have always been great. However, tonight we were treated very poorly. I called around 8:40 pm to ask if there were any specials. I was advised of the family feast. I told them that I would speak with my family to see exactly what everyone wanted and I would call back in about five minutes. She stated that the fryer would be shut off at 9 pm. I reassured that I would call within 5 minutes. My family decided we were not going to order chicken to inconvenience them. I called back within five minutes and the phone just rang each time. I called private and she heard my voice and placed me on an extremely long hold. We decided to go in because it was just down the street. We walked in and started to order even though she clearly didn’t want us to. We stated that we would like to use the coupon for the 1 topping large pizza and that we would like 3. She stated that she would only honor it for one pizza. The coupon doesn’t state this and we have used it lots of times this way. We decided we would just leave because she was rude and laughed.
