The reason I stop into any Michoacána location is for their yogurt & fruit cup. They consistently always taste great with the fresh fruit & choice of any toppings….always the same delicious recipe. Stopped into this location today and it turned out to be a major fail!
Michoacana shops all have a pre-mixed flavored yogurt bases all batched in large containers by flavor like walnut, strawberry, coconut etc. The yogurt base has a thinner consistency & is slightly sweeter so it’s easy to mix up and eat with the fruit & toppings.
At this location the medium sized cup is called a large, while the large size at other locations is called an XL here = more $$$. Also fruit/topping choices are limited and unlimited toppings does not apply here. I elected granola & shredded coconut. They failed to tell me there was an additional $1 charge for sprinkle of shredded coconut…yeah seriously?! A whole bag costs about $3 at the grocery store.
Now paying $10 for their yogurt fruit cup would have bothered me much less if it was actually good like it usually is from other locations. I got home finally tasted it and threw the whole xxxxxxx thing out! It tasted nothing like it normally does. Instead it was thick, not sweet and only had l the slightest hint of the flavor I selected.
So disappointed, never going to this...
Read moreIf I can give negative stars I would. Authentic Michoacána establishments are a dime a dozen and most live up to the expectation. This one surely did not, more like a overpriced cut corners kind of establishment using the Michoacána name. Ordered a yogurt, their sizes are different than most other locations and somehow costs more. Also ordered a chocolate ice cream “1 bola” and a small mangonada. I was skeptical at first as a lot of the ice cream seemed frosted as if it’s been under the freezer uncovered for quite some time. The mangonada was rancid. The ice cream was for sure bad and when I returned the item back to the counter the owner had one of the workers try it and said no we make everything daily. Now it was obvious 80% of that ice cream was already going bad. The owner had the unprofessional and rude act to start asking other patrons in the establishment if they thought their mangonadas were also bad. Making the whole thing very uncomfortable. I didn’t even ask for a refund or anything, just wanted to let them know it was bad, and she decided to get mad at the feedback. Rude, unprofessional, and very bad service. Do not recommend this place at all. Drive to Bolingbrook on Rt...
Read moreThis Michoacana location has some questionable recipes. I've spent a good portion of income on Michoacana in the last four years, and this place is by far the most bizarre location I've been to. I have been here at least five times now, and each time it's something different. The Fresas con Crema tasted like strawberries dunked in nothing but sour cream. There was no sweetness whatsoever. The diablito tasted like pure Valentina in a cup, which was revolting. And the Horchata was identical to melted horchata ice cream (very strange). Some other things are fine: elotes, mangoñadas, esquites, and dorilocos are all the familiar Michoacana quality. I do hope these recipe issues get fixed. The people who work there are very nice and I would like to give them more of my business...
