worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant
My girlfriend and I decided to go here over another local establishment (luigis) which turned out to be a poor decision on our part. We arrived at Charlie's around 1915. We stood around for a few moments as nobody actually told us to be seated or to wait. Waitresses were walking by us and nobody said a word, I eventually walked over to a table and asked an already seated customer, "what are we supposed to do here?" They advised us to sit down and someone would be with us. We sit down as far away from the live music as possible, however it's so loud I literally cannot have a conversation with my girlfriend without sending her a text because the music was so loud. This continued throughout the night. 1930: we were able to order our drinks. 1940: our drinks arrived, however the waitress promptly walked away before we could even ask about ordering food. 1950: waitress comes back, we order a very simple meal. 2 orders of pretzel sticks and 2 hoagies, as they were listed on the menu with no special requests. 2100: we finally received our food, my girlfriends had brown lettuce and my steak sandwich had mushrooms despite the menu not listing mushrooms. At this point I am disappointed and lost my appetite however I hunted down a waitress and asked for mine to be fixed and requested it be packaged to-go due to already being here alot longer than anticipated. She returned with my "corrected" sandwich, and promised me a small discount. I asked to speak to a manager due to the ridiculous amount of time it took to receive the order despite the restaurant being at maybe 40% capacity on a Saturday night (I never do this, I am very laid back and understanding, however this was just awful service).
The manager comes to our table, the music is so loud we cannot even understand each other. However I could understand she was making excuses. She said 1.5 hours is actually a normal wait for 2 cold hoagies, despite the fact the 2 people that came in after us received their food before we did. We eventually gave up as the manager had no intentions of working with us besides making excuses. I get home only to find the sandwich they were supposed to fix was still incorrect...
I will never go back here and wouldn't recommend...
Read moreI loved the atmosphere and service here. Jenn was amazing! She was very informative and helpful, recommending specific dishes and she was very attentive. The dinner prices were about average but other items, like subs and sandwiches, were relatively high priced. The chicken Alfredo was a bit salty for my taste and, other than the salt, pretty bland. A pinch of garlic and black pepper and a sprig of parsley would have made all the difference! The fresh cut fries were soft and had absolutely no crunch but the brown gravy was absolutely delicious! The side salad was amazing with all of the right components like mild pepper rings, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, etc. and a bit large for a side salad. Definitely more than the "normal" lettuce, tomato, onion side salad that most places serve and the ranch dressing was good. The baked potato and corn was well prepared and tasted good. The roast beef was a bit salty but had that amazing brown gravy on it. While the roast beef itself was okay, it was thinly sliced, like deli meat, which actually detracted from the taste. If this was a nice slice of beef roast, it would've been much better. I can only rate the food that I tried and for those dishes, the prices were good and most of the sides were okay, but the main dishes were a bit lacking in flavor. With such a great atmosphere and service though, it was definitely worth the trip, despite the...
Read moreI'm trying to figure out who is writing the good reviews. They must be written by employees or friends of employees. Went there on a Sunday night. Their website said the kitchen was open until 10:00 p.m., their menu said 9:00 p.m. It is not hard to edit operating hours on a website. We ordered wings that came put in less than 10 minutes. I questioned how they could done so quickly. The server said " they do something to them in the morning so they come out fast". That "something" is par cook them and boy did they taste it. They were dried out and cold in the center. They had little sauce. They were not crispy and had no flavor. The server said they out of iced tea- the truck hasn't brought it. If that is true they are right across from a supermarket. This place lacks serious management which makes me question safe food handling procedures etc. We will never go back. I give this place another year before it...
