Great staff and a clean, inviting atmosphere were positive things to walk into. After ordering in the store and driving my food home, I sat down to eat, and that's where my issues started.
First, let me say that nothing was bad in the sense that something was rotten or undercooked or anything unsanitary. My issue was the under seasoning of my order.
The fried dumplings were larger than expected, but very doughy. The filling, although it was abundant, didn't stand out at all. The sauce was OK, although again, very underwhelming.
My Singapore meifun...I gave it a double take when I opened the container. There was no curry powder or any seasonings at all on the noodles. It looked like the veggies and meat (and for some reason imitation crab) were cooked together and seasoned, then the noodles were given a quick mix and plated. This resulted in most bites being incredibly underwhelming.
House special soup was a winner, with great broth and veggies and meats and seafood, but again the imitation crab did not belong and messed with the texture of the soup.
Overall, given the area it's located in, there are better places to go, but if this was the only place you could get Chinese food, I'd go back and try something else that might be a winner.
Again, it's a good location with great people; my selection of food for my order is where it fell...
Read more(please read edit) I've only had the food from here once but it was pretty good, as far as affordable, Chinese-American fare goes. The pick-up was fast and the staff were nice. I can definitely say that no great wall could stop me from returning to this restaurant.
EDIT: Qin, Han, Tang, Song, Ming, Qing. What do all of these have in common? They are all great dynasties of Chinese history. They all rose, they all fell. Many of them contributed to the construction and expansion of the great wall, but like all empires, none of the walls they erected could prevent their eventual dissolution at the hands of time.
Presently, I am revising my original 4 STAR review of this Great Wall to 2 STARS, because much like the many dynasties of China and the original Great Wall, this one, too, has crumbled under its own hubris and the passage of time. Since I first reviewed great wall last year, the quality has diminished. While the service and efficiency remain the same, the food has deteriorated so much that I can no longer give it the endorsement I once did.
And so, I must look for a new Chinese restaurant in the area to visit, somewhere worthy to possess the proverbial "Mandate of Heaven" to my stomach, as the successive empires of China have transitioned among themselves...
Read moreAs an avid Chinese food lover, this was one of the worst Chinese food experiences my fiancée and I ever had. Do not recommend at all.
First off, I used their online website where I could have sworn I selected “Szechuan chicken” but turns out the app clicked shrimp for me? Maybe a user mistake on my part, that is fine, but upon telling the woman, she felt no remorse and kept shoving me off the phone saying “goodnight, goodnight” and nothing about potentially bringing it back or even paying half to get the chicken order. We decided to give it a chance and it was horrendous. The “shrimp Szechuan” was just gnarly smelling sauce with barely cooked vegetables and I counted maybe (3) shrimp. My fiancée got the general Tso’s chicken and the chicken was just super mushy. The chicken and pork fried rices were overpacked with onions and had no taste. We can’t even tell you if the chicken in the rices and general Tso’s was actually chicken. Attached photos because the presentation of all the items were nasty. Also, the shrimp Szechuan was so saucy it was dripping through the bag.
First and only time ever coming here. Never...
