If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Overall I am disgusted with Henry's on Clay. I have been wanting to try this place for a few months and was excited to finally go. Unfortunately, I ran into many problems. To start off, I had to wait an hour to be seated. People who were there after my party had been seated before me (we were only 3 people). As I was waiting, there were many people who walked out because they were waiting so long. We also watched people wait about, if not more than, 30 minutes for their food after ordering. When we followed up at the counter to make sure they knew we were still waiting the employees were rude and confrontational. They told us there were never any empty tables for us to be seated at, but there were a number of opportunities. They also said that they called our names three times and nobody responded. We were squished in between the counter and door and did not hear our name once. Nobody came up to confirm that our name was on the list or ask who we were. Also, nobody even came to apologize for the wait or ask if we needed anything while we were waiting. One person was given a cappuccino on the house because it was made by mistake.
As we were waiting we noticed that the menus and walls were dirty and looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a while.
When we finally sat down the owner came up to us and continued to be confrontational. Finally the server came and took our orders. We ordered 4 dishes and 3 were not made correctly. We ordered the french onion soup without croutons or bread and it came with croutons. We got wonton soup that had sprouts in it that were raw. We also ordered the grilled cheese, which was all bread with little filling and, to top it all off, it had a HAIR stuck in between the bread and melted cheese. When the owner came over to apologize she was, again, rude. She came over and asked, and I quote, 'what's the problem' as she rolled her eyes. To compensate for this disaster they took the grilled cheese and cappuccino we had ordered off the bill and said I hope to see you again with no apologies for the wrong doings. They continued to make excuses instead of apologizing. They also said that they recognize us from coming there and know we haven't had issues in the past. We are from NY and have never stepped foot in the place before today. They're excuse for this situation is that they are a new business. They have been open for over a year and should know how to sit tables and please customers. I have been in the restaurant business for 20+ years and have never had an experience like this or treated customers like this. The owners claim that this has never happened before but as we waited for our food we began to read reviews and saw that people have had similar experiences here.
I left and my stomach was so sick and I dont know if it's from the frustration or the food.
The only positive to this experience was our waitress...
Read moreI have never written a review before let alone a poor one, but think people should know about the most recent experience here. The food is great but the service was horrible and this is not the first time. We arrived and were seated right away, it seemed pretty busy but not as bad as I have seen it before on a weekend. We waited about 10 minutes before our server came to acknowledge us and take our drink order, then another 15 before our food order was even taken. I completely understand being busy as I was a server for years in a place similar to Henry’s, but this was way different. From the time we sat down to the time we got our food, it was almost an hour and a half, we had already been sitting there an hour when our server finally acknowledged the long wait and said that the kitchen was short staffed. I get it, but once the table next to us got their food before us, after sitting about 20-25 minutes after we had already been there. It was only two of us, we weren’t even a big party. We watched as three additional tables got their food before us and already left. When we finally got our food and I mentioned the long wait to our server, he didn’t say much just I know and I think sorry. We weren’t even asked if we needed anything else when the food came, just asked if we wanted the bill. We will not be back to Henry’s. I do like supporting small businesses in the area but this kind of service and experience for breakfast is insane. It is not inexpensive here so I would expect a higher level of service. It seems if you know the people, you’ll get served right away, otherwise...
Read moreStood at the counter for several minutes before someone even acknowledged me, fine. Sit at a table outside and a left there for 25 minutes before I had to flag someone down to even take a drink orde, pretty problematic especially that they were not the busiest I’ve seen them. The person I flagged down looked at me initially, then instead started clearing a table next to me when I had to say excuse me and let her know no one has even approached my table even for water. Side note, I never got water. Took another ten years just to get an iced tea and food. Zero checking in and the food isn’t good enough to make up for the experience. Seems like ever since they expanded, their service is bad or they are just ignoring the people who sit outside. Then I was just given a check without asking if there’s anything else I need- I would have gotten another drink… I left and paid but inside to pay, I noticed There were a few tables of people who were waiting to sit inside when I initially sat at my table and they all got seated like 20 mins after me and once sat inside, they got all their food like immediately and the food choices were I less complex than the food ordered by the table outside with me (3 different tables). One other table that was sitting outside still doesn’t have their food and they only sat a few mins after me. I just let them know that all the other people have their food that are inside who arrived after them and they went inside to complain. This used to be a place I enjoyed coming to but this experience really soured it and likely...
