Carmine's Pizza & Italian Take Out — Restaurant in Durham

This is a spot I make a habit to stop at after going to Hammonasett beach with the family as its right on the route from Middletown to Madison. I have tried alot of pizza in this county area and this is definitely so, far the best pizza within the Middlesex county. Able to contend with New Haven and be amongst the ranks of great pizza spots for CT. Service is great. Courteous and friendly. They can get busy but food is made fresh and in good reasonable time. Not really a sit down to eat restaraunt so look to get your stuff to go but they do provide a few tables to eat outside. Cheese pizza is classic, tasteful sauce and cheese combo and also taste great the next day as well. A hidden gem and surprised no social media critiques have ventured into this spot yet. I even have tried other stuff on menue and thier hot grinders are solid. Chicken parm, steak n cheese, egg plant parm, chicken cutlet👌🏾. There really is no other pizza spot up this way that I have tasted which can satisfy my craving for New Haven pizza except for this place. I wish they delivered to surrounding towns as I would order from here more often. Its about 15 minutes away from me but I would rather drive to pickup pizza from here than to order from a place that offers average style pizza. This place is worth it. Best you check it...

I placed an order for pick up and arrived at the time frame given. Pizza was cold, the cheese streak wrap I ordered was cold the cheese was NOT even melted. No marina sauce was provided with the garlic knots we ordered. I thankfully checked the order and the French fries I ordered were not included. My husband went back in to ask about the incomplete order and they were off to the side somewhere and cold. I will never order from this unorganized establishment again. My blonde female was rude when I called and when we went to pick our order up. Giovanni’s in Northford is my usual go to and unfortunately was closed today. They will remain our “go to” place for real customer service and food. What a disappointment Carmines do BETTER… truly a display of incompetent customer service and less than up to par food. She should have at least apologized. Nope and had the audacity to say we didn’t pay for the fried we ordered when we did ….. she insisted we didn’t and I double paid for an order of cold lazy fries. NEVER AGAIN and I will pass this experience on to everyone I know in Durham...

First off I'm not sure how many of you are Italian or if any of you are but this would not be a place I will return to a second time. My first time I had to wait 45 minutes for 2 small pizza which I will add were from their specialty section. I pull up to the place which is hard to see from the road and at first glance the place looks empty. First thought was how could it have taken 45 minutes to make my 2 small pizza? When I get in there I see the place is very,very small and the kitchen is over staffed. There was like 10 guys in a 10 x 15 space. Lol! The girl at the register confirmed that others have felt the same as me with the amount of time it takes to make a pizza for take out. As for the pizza the cheese was not the best, very salty, the sauce tasted like they add cream to it, the crust burnt and chewy? Please do not let the name fool ya! This pizza place has no relation to Carmine's of NY. I will be able to avoid this place but most of you in this area have limited options!
