Worst Drive-Thru Experience in Durham, NC!

Upon arrival, we saw that there was quite a long line that was extended way out onto the street. Due to our mere excitement, we decided to wait things out and give this new Checkers location a try. We waited for over an hour to have our order taken; then waited an additional 25 to 30 minutes to pay and receive our food. Before pulling off, we checked to make sure our order was correct and it was.

We immediately found a place to park in order to eat our food. We started with the fries which were not hot or fresh, the taste was that of something that was reheated in a microwave giving them a chewy texture. We've noticed that most of our fries were stuck together, something that usually happens when cooking them at a lowered temperature. Yuck! Then it was time to eat our burgers, they too were not hot; the bacon was under-cooked and chewy, the buns were cold and greasy. To make things even worse, they didn't even think to place napkins in the bag.

Overall, this entire experience was a total let down; a major disappointment, a waste of time and money. A shame that this Checkers just opened this August 17th, 2021 and already making a terrible first and lasting impression in our opinion. I hope that I could at least get reimbursed the $18.24 cash. I do not want a gift card or coupon for a return visit. The owner(s), management and staff even failed to thank us for our patronage and for patiently waiting. We didn't even get an apology for the excessive wait time! They should've made sure that our food was served HOT and FRESH considering how long everyone had to wait. Horrible!

The honest truth about this Checkers is that (and it's kind of funny)everybody appears to be confused or something about how they are suppose to be doing things. This place is in disaster mode already and they just opened a few days ago. The kid that served me at the window looked like a deer in headlight while trying to figure out my order on the register...and you could hear the frustration that was going on inside because the employees were arguing with each other. I started off attempting to go through the drive thru. The line was 11 cars deep and growing far out into the street. It took 15 minutes for me to move up one car spot. I gave up on ever getting to the drive thru window so I left the drive thru line and parked and went to the walk up window where I still had to wait another 15 minutes for someone to open the window to take my order. WARNING. Forget about the drive thru. You will be there forever. The food was terrible...and I know that whomever is preparing it have no idea what they are doing. I've eaten at other Checkers before and have never experienced anything like this. If I had I would have never stopped at this one. This store is nothing to brag to your friends and family about or that you will be eager to go back to...if you go back at all. Normally I would show a little empathy and chalk it all up to new store jitters or something, but whomever is managing this Checkers needs to be replaced, along with the cook....and fast because the ship is...

So before I start this review I do want to mention this place has been opened well over 3years so at this point it's no excuse....I came to checkerz today exactly 2:45pm there was one person in line in front of me.i ordered the funnel cake fries.after watching the car in front of me switch drinks at least 4times (assuming something was wrong with them because they kept sending them back)...Again I ordered the funnel cake fries probably takes all 3minutes to cook...by this point it's 3:02 and the car in front of me has not even paid for their food yet.i pull out the drive thru line and go to walk up window after standing there for 5minutes I knock on the window a gentleman comes to window I tell him I have been waiting behind the car in the drive thru for 20mins for FUNNEL CAKE FRIES I asked him could I just pay at walk up window so I can leave because i know the fries are already cold at this point he sure no problem proceeds to close the window only to find out they hadn't even cooked them yet...I waited 25minutes for an order that should have only taken 5minutes at max to make. took almost 30mins and after seeing how my order still wasn't even COOKED I LEFT WITH NOTHING....THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE THERE IS NO WAY THIS PLACE DOES NOT HAVE A WORKING SYSTEM IN PLACE OR ADEQUATE TRAINED STAFF..YALL ARE WORSE THAN THE BURGER KING ON...
