When you walk through the door, you are greeted by a sign that says “You are about to eat the best BBQ in the world”. Unfortunately, they don’t hold up their promise. What they offer instead is good, not great, slightly above average BBQ. I definitely would recommend this restaurant, but not enthusiastically. The prices are very reasonable, the service is fast, and they have a large, albeit casual dining room. Perhaps, most importantly, they are one of few restaurants in the heart of RTP. Ultimately, the most important factor for any restaurant is the food and theirs is just OK. I’ll go back; it’s a convenient option for RTP and the food is good enough, but don’t go out of your way to stop by. Note, They are only open for lunch M-F. Never breakfast, dinner, or weekends.

The food is consistently neither remarkable nor particularly bad, and I come here for a quick bite when I need a BBQ fix. I would probably rate the place higher if every time I came in I didn't get the feeling that they were constantly trying to drive everyone out. The staff aren't particularly friendly and even though the hours listed on the door say they are open until two, they start closing the dining room down as early as 1p. Turning over the table chairs while people are still eating is rude and says that your focus is on pushing people out instead of providing good food and service. As I write this, at 1:30 they are already turning over chairs. Disappointing.

This place is pretty easily one of the best BBQ joints I've ever visited - and you can tell by the lines out the door during lunch time. It's a cafeteria style order which makes it quick and easy to point and chose what you want. Prices are super reasonable since it's obvious that it's a mom and pop store. Get there early to avoid the lines and to get a table, or else you'll be eating standing up which I see some people do, or they sit on the sidewalk curb outside - ya, it's that good! Picture/taste in your mind a Sonny's BBQ that's 10 times better and 10 times more selection of sides, meet cuts, succulence, etc.

Good barbecue sandwiches but it was a bit weird being served on Texas toast. This is North Carolina, why are you doing Texas things? But I'm an out-of--towner who doesn't know North Carolina BBQ from Texas BBQ so oh well. But it was good. Not great, but good. Sauce was good too. I had the vinegar sauce. Just remember to shake it up first. Sweet tea wasn't all that sweet considering this is the south but that's OK with me. But I was looking forward to some real southern hyper sweet tea and all I got was normal sweet tea. Boring, but fine I guess.

You order at a counter here and they serve you quickly and efficiently. I liked the hush puppies too. Like Hush Puppy in Shari Lewis, only a food. It is yummy. Reminds me of my childhood watching Lamb Chop, Charlie Horse, and Hush Puppy.

They have many booths and tables, more...

Danny's is a lunch go to spot for our office. The BBQ and all the sides are excellent! Make sure you check for their daily lunch specials as well. Had the smoked wings last week; some of the best I've ever had! The portions are good sized, so if you order the large, make sure you are hungry!

Be aware the line can look very long, but it moves pretty fast. Seating is tight during lunch, but somehow one always seems to open up fairly quickly. It's lively, but not so loud you can't have a good conversation.

The only thing that I don't like is the 15 cent charge for a water cup. It's clearly not a huge sum, but those things just bother me a bit.

Overall I highly recommend you stop in if you are in the area. You will not be...
