Golden Pizza & Subs — Restaurant in Durham

(I posted a picture of my sandwich AS it came above) If that. I just got my food from here, the first time ever ordering but after reading reviews this is what I chose. I ordered a pizza and I also ordered a sandwich and a ginger ale (I’ve been sick all day, but getting it was not an option). Not only did they not bring my drink (he had to go back and get it bc he was not told to bring one) but he also had minimal change... my food was $22 I paid with a 50, so he didn’t have $28? I ended up tipping more than I wanted because of that. Last but not least, I was really looking forward to my steak and cheese sandwich. When I opened it, it was the wrong size, I asked for the small, it had barely any meat, I still can’t find the cheese either. I asked for it to have lettuce, tomato, onion, and banana peppers and mushrooms. The only thing on the sandwich was 3 small leaves of lettuce. The bread is also not baked either. I am a server myself, and I just can’t believe the carelessness put into this order. I would never allow something to leave my restaurants kitchen looking like this, lacking ingredients. I feel bad saying I won’t be back here, I was sincerely hoping to find my new pizza place. But unfortunately...

This is easily one of the best local spots in Durham. Everything from the quality of ingredients and cleanliness to the incredibly friendly staff who make you feel at home is perfect. And, of course, the food is absolutely delicious.

My favorites? The DCB with bacon—it’s insanely affordable. The chicken and steak subs, the Hawaiian pizza with jalapeños, and the BBQ chicken pizza with bacon and onion are all must-tries. The Greek chicken salad with tzatziki and blue cheese dressing is fantastic, and the chicken calzone never disappoints. The grilled chicken platter (aka shawarma platter) with hummus is another winner.

Oh, and in case you're wondering—all the food is halal! They also offer catering and host dining events. Plus, you can enjoy your meal indoors or in their open-air...

Wings are the best in town. I tried others but none like these. They are cooked to the bone. I like BBQ. They also have Mild and Spicy. The mild have a kick to it. I did not like their fries until I tried the season fries. The lasagna & garlic toast is very good. Pizza is good and I will try again. There are a lot of people coming in and out for pizza and wings. They also have lasagna, spaghetti, calzones, burgers, gyros, salads, and subs. They steak and cheese sub is good. You can take out or sit in but I have only called and took out. If your order is between 12-2pm weekdays, prepare for a long wait even with call in orders. Call in plenty of time.
