Food Lion is the heart of this neighborhood. Yes they need a self checkout, yes there are never enough clerks at the registers and the wait is needlessly long. But the shelves are stocked and the prices are low - Food Lion has been a brave bulwark against commodity inflation, unlike âchicken is for rich people onlyâ Harris Teeter. We might not have the fanciest cheeses here, there might not be a âfish departmentâ, the wine selection might rival only gas stations; but I will go to Food Lion over Highprice Teeter any day of my life. I bought groceries at 10 am this morning, got home and checked my receipt, and they had scanned 5 of an item I only got 4 of, and I had 4 6-packs of Pepsi and 3 energy drinks that were on sale that did not ring correctly. I just went back and had to stand in line to get it straightened out. THEN the person at customer service messed up the return and only refunded me $16.02 when the total error was over $20 (she charged me $1 more per pack of Pepsi than she should have).
