JP's Grill — Restaurant in Durham

I have sampled many Roast Beef Sandwiches all over the Northeast and by far JP's is the best I have had! Their medium sized sandwich is as big as the large size at The Blue House in Derry, tastier than Kelly's Roast Beef or The Beef Side and these roast beef house's are some of the best around, JP's is at the pinnacle of them all. Their potion sizes are huge, roast beef falling out of it and so good! The taste is warm, perfect and the whole sandwich is medium rare pink not a mix of well done and pink or overcooked like most hot roast beef sandwiches! The portion of fries you get with their roast beef basket would make a supersize fry look like a small and they are perfectly cooked and salted. John and Justin pride themselves on happy customers and Justin made my food and was awesome at explaining their process for making a quality sandwich. The prices are reasonable, the food is awesome and the service was great! For being in a college town they are a step above the rest and make simple, classic favorites that are reasonably priced, huge portions and John and Justin as well as their staff were friendly and on point! A can't miss local favorite...

The most melt in your mouth tender roast beef I have ever enjoyed. Phenomenal...I only found this restaurant by accident, thank goodness. I was heading to Newington today but found out store I was going to had closed and luckily I was redirected to Durham. Durham, being a college town had many options for lunch up & down Main Street, very happy my taste buds won over my husband's who would eat pizza everyday. This restaurant is run by two sons (who were both friendly and enhanc d our dining experience) their father who came in to wipe down the tables explained to me he started the pizza place attached next door in 1977 then he bought this part of the building and opened this amazing sandwich shop only to sell it years later then buy it back one year ago and had his son's take it over. That's your history lesson for the day 😁 just go, enjoy tell them...

Outside of the MA North Shore, didn't think this type of place existed. It's like being back in my hometown, where the beefs are done "3-way," and the cheesesteaks are shaved, and juicy.

Totally blown away by JP's Grill. Pretty sure the owners are from Peabody, MA, and they definitely know exactly what they're doing. At the risk of betraying my North Shore roots, I'd argue JP's is one of the top beef shops I've ever had the pleasure of enjoying.

If you're familiar with (and seeking) this style cuisine, you'll not be disappointed. If you're new to all this, it may just change your life (sorry/not sorry).

After the first visit, have been back at least a dozen times. Best beefs, cheesesteaks and fries around. Can't wait to check out the rest of the menu, but so far, I can't help but order these...
