Our monthly dining group of 8 (G8 is now five years old) really enjoyed our recent dinner at the Nasher Cafe. We went on a Thursday night (the only night dinner is currently being served) and, as an added bonus, those of us who arrived at the Nasher Museum early could check out the current art exhibitions without paying an entrance fee since Thursday is their "free" day. It was a nice evening weather-wise and we opted for the outdoor seating (a beautiful setting) which can be a little quieter than the indoors room as well. We had truly delightful service from Marley and it was great seeing Lydia whom we know from her Refectory Cafe days. We requested several variations from what was listed on the menu and Marley and the chef happily fulfilled our orders. We all chose very tasty and fresh dinner-sized salads (from Nasher's wonderful selection) and some of us topped them off with beautifully grilled shrimp or seared ahi tuna. Nasher Cafe also has a nice selection of desserts as well as of wine, and a small, but good, selection of craft beer -- and we partook in all. Finally, we made reservations for their Saturday brunch in a...
Read moreGreat cafe with bright and comfortable indoor and outdoor seating. The food was excellent with a wide variety of choices that provides something for everyone. The meals are prepared to perfection with the best ingredients. The prices are very reasonable given the type of food served and the generous portions. Service was friendly and fast. Also has a great selection of beverage options if you just wanted to have coffee or tea.
Definitely make reservations !
We had Brunch before touring the museum, but honestly I'd go back just to eat at he cafe even if I didn't plan on seeing the rest of the museum.
Second visit with family from out of town was just as good as the first. If I were to state only one minor flaw on the second visit: two of our three Benedict meals were served with the egg yolks soft boiled rather than the poached texture that they should have been. I suspect they would have poached us replacements if we asked, but it wasn't significant enough to interrupt...
Read moreI was thoroughly disappointed. We started with a female server who was lovely, but then our server changed to a make server who was less than enthusiastic to be at work. I ordered the Steak Benedict, and while my poached eggs were done well, both pieces of steak I received were inedible. They were basically just gristle and fat. I kept looking fir the meat, but every bit if it I put in my mouth I had to spit out. It's really disappointing because you could clearly SEE that these were bad pieces of meat, but I was served them anyway. And my poached eggs, which is not an easy thing to do, were done quite well, so the fat that I was given steak that was inedible was really shocking. But, after bringing our food, our waiter did not once return to our table until he showed up with the bill, so there wasnt any opportunity for me to explain the situation to because of the lack of service. It was really disappointing, and I wont...
