Maplewood Cemetery — Local services in Durham

Looking at these reviews in advance made me reluctant to go. I called and just like the reviews said "No one answers". I went in and was welcomed and assisted immediately. I have gone multiple times and understand why no one answers. Ms. Tiffany is the only person in office to do it all. Every time I went she was assisting a family out in the cemetery, as she assisted my family and I when we arrived. The staff was amazing during the most difficult time in my life. The staff was very respectful during the burial of our loved one. They allowed us to stay while they finished their job. Since then, Ms. Tiffany has been very prompt with responding to my emails. This is by far the best cemetery I've been to. They are not perfect but as long as I have lived in Durham they have always kept up with the maintenance of the land. They just care about your money and are nice until payment occurs. Once your loved one is buried. they take away everything you put on the grave, including items that are not on their list of forbidden items. They won't tell you about it either. They do not maintain the grounds properly. Bottom line, shop elsewhere unless you just want a place to bury a body and never come...

Disappointed in the grounds upkeep (weeds and mud-filled). My parents are buried side-by-side in Section 16, and the conditions there worsen every year.
