Update: went back again on a Sunday at 7pm. It was empty. Service good Mozzarella Stix tasted very unpleasant...like from a box. (SYSCO?)I ate 1/2 stick and couldn't do more. The cheese was cold, didn't melt. Garlic knots have so much raw garlic I thought it was horseradish. They were great last time. This time NOT GOOD Fried ravioli was good Son had chicken parm and he liked Chicken Alfredo had very little chicken. I had ham, onion, cheese Stromboli. It's huge. It This time it had less cheese and the onion was strong and raw. I should have asked for grilled onion to soften up. The ham is slices and not chunks. I prefer the slices so I'm happy. Next time I will forget the onion. Italian Creme Cake is a nice coarse crumb (but not dry) and a wonderful light lemon cream. I am SO pleasantly pleased! I forgot pics of two things because they were so good! BRUSCHETTA (bru-ske-tuh) is YUM, so fresh! My son ate them all (4?) CAPRESE (ka-preh-say) looked good but lacked flavor. Not enjoyed. Tomatoes were hard. GARLIC KNOTS were divine! Hand made, soft, surrounded by garlic and melted butter sauce. House made marinara was included. SPAGHETTI BOLOGNESE (bo-lo-naise) was phenomenal. I want to say red wine was used? It was perfect anyway. NOT a sweet sauce. More salty. Thick. I had meatballs added. Dense, plum sized balls. Freaking yum! CHICKEN PARM was loaded with melted cheese. Both of my adult sons agree it was the best ever. Chicken was fresh. Comes with pasta too. My husband had MAHI MAHI. He said it was tender and a superb meal! Served on pasta in a light sauce. It was probably the best he's ever had he said. DINNER BREAD rolls were fresh, warm, and butter was soft! The dessert case....wow! So many choices of homemade cakes! We had 2 cakes. STRAWBERRY SWIRL CHEESECAKE. My son said he never had anything so good! No pics, it was gone before I remembered. My husband and I shared a CARROT CAKE. Holy moly that was outstanding! I got a pic of the one bit left. Fountain drinks, free refills, huge glasses. Only CON: Upcharged because we used a card.
Not busy, good because I didn't make reservations. Large place with plenty of seating. Roomy booths Clean Not a pizza joint. It's an actual restaurant. Plenty of parking
I did order a house salad but the waitress forgot it. It wasn't on the bill so no biggie. I had to ask for the dinner bread so ask if it's not brought out. You won't be sorry.
I drove from Kenansville to see my son. For weeks I checked reviews. It was between here and a place nearby. I'm SO HAPPY I chose...
Read moreI had appointment with my doctor at Duke, did a 7 Hour Dr. to go to Durham date early, we were starving so we called Pomodoro To order some food. We decided not to do lasagna we do that most of the time, and decided to do the combo Manicoti. Three different kinds one was spinach, one was cheese and one was chicken with some peppers. When we opened up the box, it look like the cheese was almost water poured on top of it, bland to the bone and no taste whatsoever. I actually ordered a salad and some garlic bread with it, the garlic bread was the best part of the meal. You spend upwards of 18+ dollars on this meal. I called and someone put me through to the owner, somebody you think would’ve had a lot more compassion and consideration since I just purchased food from the restaurant. Actually open their mouth and started talking about the kitchen, they may not have cooked it Long enough. Didn’t offer to do anything about the subpar Pooh food that never bit should have left the kitchen. I had a double lung transplant a little under five years ago, ate at this place a whole lot while I lived here for six months as well as when I come back for my transplant. That won’t happen again, I love great food, but unfortunately in this time in America, I am highly disappointed most of the time unless I go to Firebirds, they have some throwdown food it’s very tasteful every time you eat with them. I encourage everybody to read the reviews, they’re missing a whole lot of clients by the food they let leave their kitchen. This is where you have to train Employees to work effectively. We own a business yourself, I would not want to hire somebody in my life depended on it if I cannot be there to do the job myself. Case in point it’s all about how feel. Put it up on the market if you’re not gonna do better than that that’s...
Read moreI had a poor catering experience which will unfortunately impact my decision to dine here again. I love leaving good reviews and this will be the first negative review I have ever left on a review site.
Early on in the week I called to place my catering order. The conversation was pleasant and made me feel excited to celebrate a big graduation event. Due to being tied up, I scheduled for my friend to pick up the food. When she got there, the catering order wasn't made. My friend left and returned ~20 minutes later (making her late for the party) to retrieve the order. They placed the catered food in a flimsy box that was not put together properly. When she got to the event, all of the food fell out the bottom and covered her newly purchased white dress. She promptly returned to the restaurant to get a replacement order. When she returned, they charged her card a second time (although I had already paid for the first via phone). When I heard of the experience I promptly called the restaurant and asked to speak to a manager. When on the phone with the manager, she agreed to cancel my friend's charge. However, that didn't solve the issue of my friend's ruined dress. The manager offered to refund my order and 5 days later, this still has not gone through. This was unfortunately the worst customer service I have experienced in a long-while and impacted my ability to be present at a family celebration. I would discourage anyone from trusting Pomodoro Italian Kitchen with...
