Tropical Smoothie Cafe — Restaurant in Durham

I’ve come here many times while taking my grandmother to her cancer treatments but today was just a bad day for them in general. It took nearly 25 minutes to get my smoothies when they weren’t even busy because the workers were yapping and fussing where customers could not only hear but were getting frustrated by having to wait longer. The one girl who finally started on my smoothies has always been great and on top of things. But if not for her coming over when she did then I feel as if I would still be waiting. The manager was even there fixing stuff in the back but not seeing if her workers were doing what they needed to. Customer service is a hard job but if you want to gossip or joke around please do it after you’ve completed the orders or on break in the back where customers can’t hear you. It’s one thing to chat with customers who you see often because they work in the building but prioritizing it over making the orders especially when most of your customers either have cancer or are with someone with cancer and might need them near by should make for a...

Ate here today and service was extremely slow, had an appointment at Duke Cancer center and was already stressed, then tried to order food and it took forever. I sat there while people behind me in line were getting served their food and had to ask twice about my food. There was another girl that was experiencing the same thing, but she worked there and went up to tell them she had been waiting 20 minutes and only got a 30 minute lunch. This is the second time I have experienced this at this same location! Would like to say I won't be back, but it's the only choice...waited at least 25 minutes for my food and when I finally got it, I asked if something I had ordered took extra time to make or what the issue was, so I could avoid it the next time and the girl just looked at me blankly and said no! Last time they forgot my kale salad too. Soooo...

My wife and i like the smoothos from this place. Great for an in between meals snack while shes getting her infusions. We stopped obtaining food from this location when she ordered a chicken quesadilla. It arrived with no chicken. She was already hooked up for infusion so we couldnt return it. Just tried to obtain two smoothies. Same type. Waited for 15 minutes while watching everyone after me (8 or more folks) obtain their order. Includimg a person who ordered 4 smoothies. After trying to walk up to two different folks who work there and in return getting ignored i walked out empty handed. I dont have all day to wait around for two smoothies to be made at the employees convienience. I have a wife to return to who is in the middle of an infusion. Will no longer patronize this establishment. A shame too since we have several more...
