UNH Dairy Bar — Restaurant in Durham

DINING ROOM IS CLOSED. OUTSIDE SEATING ONLY. ICE CREAM IS GIFFORD’s, NOT UNH DAIRY ANYMORE. Outside is perfect if you just want ice cream. We went there for dinner with children and grandparents. You have to order at the outside window. All food is served in disposable containers. Loads of plastic. They do not have trays so you have to juggle your multiple containers to your table. Tables were sticky and dirty. There was no one wiping them down or any products provided to do it yourself. The food was average. Biggest bummer was that the ice cream is Gifford’s. We were recently at the U. Of Vermont dairy bar where all ice cream is made with milk from their dairy cows. Positives: The train came by a few times which was unique and entertaining. Really stanking good food served up here on the daily. My buddy and I were just trying to get out of the rain while waiting anxiously for our train to arrive and spontaneously decided to order some grub. After pondering for about 4 minutes or so, we both went up to the register unprepared to make such a meaningful choice. We sat down after ordering knowing wed done our best under the aggravating time constraints and hoped for the best. Needless to say, both meals were stellar. My veggie burger was engulfed by my mouth like the cyanobacteria during endosymbiosis. After eating, we ate again. The ice cream was splendid and tasted real, like it came from a 🐄. Nice place to wait for a train. Nice place to have lunch. Nice place to have ice cream in the evening. Great ice cream. Good food. Good staff. Why not?

The only odd thing, they are closed at weekends. So just when I have time to actually go, guaranteed, they are always closed. I work a long way from home, so evenings are difficult for me. But I guess they know their demographics. I am surprised they are closed when other ice cream places are busy though. I often see people checking the place out at...
