Hog Heaven — Restaurant in Dyersburg

Ok, I'll start off by saying this is my first time giving such a bad review. And I also love to visit little dives and off the wall places like this. And was so disappointed here! I'm reading these reviews and I just don't understand how it even got to a 4.3 stars. I don't wanna be completely rude... But the bbq was not good! No taste. Tasted baked and watery, NO FLAVOR at all. The mild bbq sauce was like vinegar water, the hot bbq sauce was vinegar and water with a touch of Cayenne. It was actually gross! The burger was decent. We got a cheeseburger, bbq nachos and bbq fries, we wanted to try as much as we could. And was so disappointed. It was around 5 or6 pm on a Saturday afternoon. Big rain storm was upon us. Stopping to eat was a relief from driving in the rain! The only reason I'm giving this a one star... Is you can't give it any less. But I will give a shout out to waitress... She was amazing. Very southern establishment. Been here for 48 years. Waitresses in blue jeans and T-shirts. Cook has been here 33 years. Excellent pulled pork with a unique sauce. They bring a bottle of sauce to the table as it does seem to disappear (good thing) and you can add as you go. As good as it is inside, there’s a steady stream of cars heading for the pickup window. Beans are good, the potato salad has little pork bits which is a nice touch, the slaw is a square cut with definitely a home made dressing. Too full to even think about desert. But plenty of ice tea to wash it...

Best BBQ y’all will ever eat. No sweat sauce here. This ain’t no place where they give you more sauce than they give you meat. Barbecue so good it’ll make you slap your mama. PLEASE don’t actually slap your mama. Mother in-laws either. Great friendly service as well. They haven’t forgotten that service still matters.
