Quality is diminishing at EB Chinese. Our family has been loyal clients for years, and while they've never been overly generous with their meats, of late, it's become overwhelmingly bad. We ordered a large pepper steak and a large chicken with broccoli. What we received were a container with mostly broccoli and a few sheds of chicken, and another container with loads of onions and peppers, and what had to be 4 shreds of beef. To anyone living in East Brunswick, we all know EB Chinese is not the most affordable option for Chinese food, but they've always thrived on quality and freshness. I don't know if what is happening is the result of cutbacks, but it's downright unacceptable. We spent over $40 on terrible takeout (who can eat a large container of sauteed onions?) and it's something that's been happening progressively to get to this point. The one good thing they still have is very friendly staff, but other than that, I am very disappointed in what used to be my favorite place...
Read moreI absolutely love the service and food here. I used to live in NY and every time I went to a Chinese restaurant I couldn't understand anything they said and I think they thought likewise of me. Most of the time they got my order wrong but I continued going because it was the only place in the area that had semi-good food. When I moved to East Brunswick I tried this place and I was blown away. Decor is nice and the service was off the charts. The people up front are actually understandable!!! Lots of people have complained about the extra $1 payment for using credit cards but honestly I think that it's a liability thing. Anybody could take someone's card and give the numbers and get a free meal. And it's only a dollar anyway. Personally I don't mind. Dine-in serviced is excellent with attentive servers and the owner is such a sweet-heart. Here the customer is not just treated as a customer. They are treated...
Read moreThis used to be my go-to Chinese restaurant, and I really liked the food. Not anymore! I got take out yesterday for the first time in a few months and was very disappointed. The quality of everything has declined. The pork egg roll was not crispy, but chewy and tough, with very little pork. The fried tofu was not crispy either, as if it had been sitting around awhile. Furthermore, the ginger scallion sauce for the tofu used to be a spicy soy based sauce. What I got this time was not only the wrong sauce, but a thick, pale sauce that was gooey and unappetizing. The "pork" fried rice had only a few small bits of pork and no onions, and was very bland. Finally, the chicken with garlic sauce was supposed to be spicy, and was not at all- also very bland. After many years, I will no longer be...
