Sandy's Pizza — Restaurant in East Brunswick Township

4 stars is based on my usual experience with Sandy’s. The food is good and delivery is typically timely. However, I had to remove 2 stars because of some recent disappointing experiences. Sandy’s is located about 2 minutes away from my house and lately delivery has been taking an hour or longer, which is okay. I know sometimes they get really busy. My most recent experience, I ordered food online for delivery at 5pm and when it still hadn’t arrived by 6:15, I decided to call in. The woman on the phone let me know that the delivery man already left and the food would be getting to me in a few minutes. By 7:00 the food STILL hadn’t arrived so I called again and was met with confusion from staff who wrongly assigned my order as pickup, even though it clearly said delivery on my order confirmation. They were apologetic and said they didn’t know why the last person said it was on the way, but they could send it over right away. So I made sure to ask if the food would be cold now, since it had been sitting out for over 2 hours and was assured that it wouldn’t be cold and was still fresh. Fine, the food came and I was charged full price as per the delivery man. I later saw that there was a second receipt attached to the first that showed a reprinted receipt with $5.00 off. This receipt was not shown to me and I was verbally told to pay the full price, so basically the delivery man took extra money from me to keep as his own tip, even though I already tipped him 20% regardless of the lateness! I opened the food and as I suspected, everything was stone cold and stale. The burger was so horribly over cooked and dry, even though I specified I wanted it medium. It was way over well done and the cheese looked gray. So after waiting two and a half hours to finally get to eat dinner, my 5 year old daughter and I still couldn’t eat our food because it was left sitting on the counter for 2 and a half hours and even after reheating was just stale and not good. I tried reaching out to Sandy’s and received no response. This was one of my worst experiences EVER with any food establishment and I am so disappointed. Not entirely sure whats going on with this place lately but after todays in-counter i will not be returning. A few weeks ago i had a delivery driver call and yell at me because he couldnt find my house even though i have very good directions in my info. They took care of it and sent another driver. Fast forward today i had the delivery driver honking on his horn for me to come out and grab my own food… thats weird and when i asked why he said so i would come outside. My coffee was ice cold and for $6 I expect it to be hot. My french toast was just as cold and that was $10 . I had them come back for the food and when he returned he slammed on his horn even louder until i came to his car! ( I HAVE A YOUNG CHILD) the manager seems like she hates her job and her tone of voice makes the situation worse. I understand noone wants to work but hiring just anybody will ruin this restaurant. Twice ive been yelled at by the drivers so that tells me they hire ANYBODY that can drive. If your looking for good customer service TURN AROUND! If you need to order food for delivery just remember they expect you to greet them at their car. Ive personally heard about this place getting bad but I didn’t believe it until it happened to me. One bad employee can ruin a business! In this situation it seems like you only have bad employees so I wont be surprised...

Sandy's is an excellent neighborhood place to grab a bite. In the past 10 or so years, Sandy's has consistently come through for me... whether it's because I was hungry and didn't know what I wanted, or for a last minute catering order, or just a slice of pizza at the end of the day. Sandy's always delivered (both figuratively and literally). Is Sandy's the best pizza in town? No...but their pizzas are better than average. The plain slice is excellent. They make great sandwiches, salads, paninis, Cluck-U Wings and breakfasts.

The owner is an awesome guy who gets to know every customer, and he's incredibly friendly and accommodating. He also owns Casablanca next door. I definitely wish him luck...he's exactly the kind of business owner I enjoy seeing succeed.
