Another rude drive-through person (re: my previous review on another chain/drive-through fast-food place). The woman's voice at the ordering speaker (the drive-through line) was very faint and almost impossible to hear. I said, "I'm having difficulty hearing you, could you speak up, please?" She said something else, same volume, so I thought she might not be able to hear me, and I said, louder, "Sorry, I'm having a hard time hearing you, could you talk a little louder?" Once again she said something and it was still almost inaudible, very faint. I spoke a bit louder (not yelling, but loud enough to hope she could hear me) and said, "I think there might be a problem with the speaker because I can barely hear you." I heard static and then, at full volume, she said, "I SAID ..." and I think asked me what my order was, in a very sarcastic tone of voice. I said, "I can hear you now. There's no need to be sarcastic. I just couldn't hear you." Suddenly a male voice said, "May I help you?" I said, "I was trying to place my order but wasn't able to hear the person before you." He very nicely asked for my order and I placed it. No problem hearing him at all, so obviously there was no problem with the speaker. I mentioned the woman who waited on me prior to him was rude and I'd been having problems hearing her. He didn't say much and I drove through to pick up my food. The wait, with only one car ahead of me, was long. When I got to the pick-up window I watched the workers and it took at least 5 minutes for my order, which wasn't large, to get packed into a bag. The woman ahead of me didn't have a large order either and she waited for several minutes at the window, too. If White Castle is supposed to produce fast food, this wasn't. With a side of rudeness thrown it was maybe a 2 star experience, but the man who took my order was nice so I...
Read moreSo, we were driving to New Jersey out of the blue from Ohio. Just needed to clear my head. Y'all know how it gets sometimes... We got to Newark and before we hit the road again, we were suggested to go to White Castle. We had never been before. It was fun that the building and even the trash cans were shaped like castles. The menu was more than I expected. We ended up buying a shareable, some chicken rings, and a chicken deluxe. I was watching the crew member open these little boxes all fast.. I was wondering what the final presentation would be. I was handed a big purple heavy cardboard box with a ton of small burger boxes inside. Lol so cute. Everything was hot and fresh. No napkins. Chicken deluxe was good enough to buy again. The burgers were hit or miss. Pro tip don't eat and drive! The next day the whole truck smelled like White Castle 😭 omg... and yall! It was 24 hrs. They never close! I might go again for the chicken deluxe and maybe try a dessert if they have em. Normal fast food staff. Not rude,...
Read moreI absolutely love white castle. It brings back so many memories of my childhood. I don't live near to any locations now, but have family in NJ. I remember going down when I was young and stopping for burgers. There are definitely changes, but the burgers are just as good. The atmosphere is different in this location from my childhood memories, very clean. (I remember my father ordering thru bulletproof glass with a little window in Newark, nothing against Newark had a lot of family there). When I am feeling naulstagic I buy the frozen ones(not the same but, ok). I bought the 20 burger pack so I could take some home. I nearly fell off my chair when I saw the box, I sent it to my father and he said "night castle?". Makes me feel old H&K is 20 years old and my memories are 20+ years before that. It's great to see a establishment spanning multiple generations in a age that only cares about the latest...
