The customer service is EXTREMELY POOR! Their punctuality is EXTREMELY POOR, as well as their level or professionalism. With a past experience on working in the fast food industry if we were even 2 minutes behind on an order we would have to be chastised as this is a FAST FOOD RESTAURANT and should hold the same value as said title. Unfortunately the so called fast food restaurant in East Orange NJ on South Orange ave IS FAR FROM THAT. I arrived in the drive thru at 11pm I did not leave until 12am. Once I got to the window there were only 3 employees on shift and 1 manager. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN but yet IT NEVER FAILS every time I go to this restaurant it is the same thing slow service, cold food and rude employees. That have no remorse and are completely unapologetic towards their customers. Even Uber drivers were waiting out side for an hour in the cold as well. THIS HAPPENS EVERY NIGHT YET NOTHING IS DONE WITHIN THE COMPANY TO CHANGE IT . In my honest opinion EVERYONE SHOULD GET FIRED!! From the store manager down to the night shift. The level of unprofessionalism is BAD FOR BUSINESS, and Popeyes has done NOTHING ABOUT THIS. I’ve seen with my own eyes the night time manager eating chicken making orders as well as ringing up customers AT THE SAME TIME. Completely DISGUSTING AND UNHYGIENIC. And yet this is what goes on at this store. I do not recommend ANYONE EAT HERE I WOULDN'T EVEN SEND MY WORST ENEMY TO GO TO THIS STORE. It is a sad excuse for a so called “fast food restaurant” and I truly believe corporate should do a clean house and start off fresh from the night time shift all the way to the Store manager even the General manager. Read moreI usually don’t leave negative reviews, but I felt I had to share my experience at the Popeyes on South Orange Ave. This location is absolutely ridiculous when it comes to following directions—it’s honestly insane.
After a long day at work, I didn’t feel like cooking, so I placed an online order for the 2 for $6 meal. When we got to the drive-thru, my brother gave them our order number (43), and the employee handed us a bag. Right away, we noticed it didn’t look like what we ordered—it turned out to be mac and cheese, which wasn’t part of our order at all.
My brother told the drive-thru worker, and she asked him to come inside to fix it. After parking and going in, he came back with the correct 2 for $6 meal boxes. But when I checked the bag, both mashed potatoes were missing. He had to go back again and came out with just one mashed potato. At that point, going back a third time felt ridiculous, so we just went home—frustrated and disappointed.
Also, having panhandlers constantly approaching cars in the drive-thru is uncomfortable. This location really needs better order accuracy and some kind of security presence.

With that said, this place removes the primary purpose of the app. I ordered a 4 piece, which apparently was too complicated for the employees to handle. At the time, there were no other vehicles in the drive-through and no customers inside, but for some idiotic reason, I was told that I had to come inside to get my order even though I was at the drive-through window. This made no sense especially since it was raining at the time. When I inquired about this, the "manager" told me to calm down. To add to the inconvenience of this incident, it took another 15 minutes to complete the order because the semi-literate cashier couldn't remember or couldn't read or comprehend the printout and had to make several trips back and forth to repeatedly read the same receipt over and over. I finally suggested that perhaps he should carry the big heavy receipt with him since he was obviously having trouble with his short term memory. During this time there were still no other customers inside or outside. I realize my rant won't make any difference because bad service like this comes from the top and is destined to never change.
