A friend of ours recommended this place when we were making plans to get together for dinner. Honestly, when we drove up, it looks kind of like a towny bar, but the inside is elegant without being pretentious. The booths are spacious and everything about Golden Irene is inviting. Our party of four ordered drinks, appetizers, and had a surprise dessert for my husband's 30th birthday. Everything we ate was astounding. We had gorgonzola potatoes and meatballs for appetizers. The meatballs were huge and just melted together blissfully with the sauce and cheese. We actually got more bread, homemade by the way, just to clean up the extra sauce and cheese the meatballs came in. Our server was perfection. (I'm sorry I'm terrible with names!) She got us everything we needed, checked on us often, had a great personality, and wasn't hovering. We each ordered different meals: pumpkin ravioli with scallops, chicken fettichini alfredo, lamb shank, and shrimp on creamy polenta. I'm not sure what the names of each meal actually was; those are just descriptions. We all tried each other's plates, and everything was delicious. My husband's lamb fell.off the shank with almost no effort. Everything was perfection. We complimented the food and a gentleman came out of the kitchen to personally thank us and make conversation. He let us know they'll be opening a pasta place in East Longmeadow soon-- I'll be there for sure! Lastly, the staff came out with a huge oven baked chocolate chip cookie topped with three gigantic scoops of vanilla and a candle. We all sang to my husband. Anyone I ever want to impress, I'll be sure to take them to Golden Irene! Thanks for a...
Read moreWe went here on a Friday night around 6, so we expected a wait, which was fine. It took about 15-20 minutes to get a table. Once seated a waitress came over and took drink orders fairly quickly. Drinks took about 15 minutes to get, which again being a Friday with the bar being crowded wasn't a surprise. I ordered the chicken parm which came with homemade pasta. Which once it came was very good, tender chicken, pasta was great. Prices are reasonable and good selection of different dishes. The main issue and why they lost a star is that I can understand staffing shortages and taking longer than usual (food took about an hour and a half!). However, we were not offered so much as bread while we're were waiting, after about an hour we asked for some bread for the table and only one somewhat large roll was brought over for 5 people. I have been here once before and it was better service, so I couldn't knock it down another star to 3. Hopefully they get things together better than that night. If it were my first experience there I may not...
Read moreI'll be honest and say that when my boyfriend and I decided to go here for dinner I was a little skeptical. I hadn't heard of it before and it seemed to be located a bit off the beaten path. I looked at the menu online however and really liked the options, so we gave it go. There was plenty of parking and a sign near the road so people don't miss it and drive by. The inside was dark and cozy feeling, I really liked the atmosphere. We were immediately greeted and then sat at a table in the corner. Our waitress, April, was one of the nicest people and seemed so happy to be at work! She just made me smile. She was attentive and quick to come to our table to check on us. I'm not sure if he was the manager or the owner, but he also stopped in a few times to check on us. The food was amazing. April informed us that they make everything from scratch and I felt it really showed. The grape leaves were amazing and the land and sea entree was delicious. On top of that it was so well priced! I'd highly recommend a stop in to this place to...
