Honestly, maybe my expectations were too high. Having years of restaurant experience I saw the full parking lot and got excited. That’s usually a good sign! But unfortunately I was wrong. I ordered the BBQ chicken sandwich, thinking it was going to be, y’know, BBQ chicken? Well, I guess it technically was? It was just a very thin slice of chicken breast on a bun with pickles with a tiny bit of BBQ sauce on it. Which is the other thing, I had asked for it off the bun due to an allergy, the same reason I asked for no onion rings. The sign says “please inform server if you have an allergy” so not wanting to die or get sick, I informed the cashier of my allergy “no onion rings and no please.” Sure enough, it was slapped between to pillowy potato roll halves. The fries were okay. They use a kind of potato that has a high sugar content which makes them turn brown quickly. It doesn’t make a difference taste wise but they also don’t blanch them properly before frying which makes them shriveled and a little soggy and lastly, the barely salted them. Which, I know, you can always add your own but still. Over all I was really excited to try this place out because I’ve driven past several times and there’s always people there but I left disappointed. Maybe their fried seafood is better. I should have gone with a...
Read moreWhat a terrible experience! I had frequented CJ's since they opened and while a bit pricey thought it was a cool spot. This summer I was accidentally over-charged on a meal. A transaction that the girl said didn't go through, actually did. No worries I said when I saw the charge on my statement. I stopped by to try to work it out but was sent away the first time by a young guy who said the boss had to handle it. I left my number and waited. I called a couple times trying to reach him but to no avail. I was never angry about it and was perfectly willing to take a credit and happy to continue eating there, this stuff happens. BUT today I stopped by to see if we could straighten it out and the owner literally threw money at me and accused me of trying to scam him! I tried to have a reasonable conversation with him and asked why he would treat a customer that way? What a shame! What a jerk! Who would waste their time over such a small and honest mistake? Regardless of food or motif, I think this guy is an embarrassment and should be ashamed of how he treats someone when the fault was clearly on their end. Twice I went there thinking, okay great we will square this simple thing up and I will get a bite. Twice I left disappointed and hungry. Avoid this...
Read moreFRESH. Really solid place, super fresh food. It's usually very busy, long lines. Park in the bear co-op parking lot. They have outdoor seating. Their lobster rolls have a ton of lobster meat on them. I have to rate them a 4/5 because the tables aren't cleaned too often. Their main item, the item that they're known for - the lobster roll is a bit expensive and I they know it. Their overhead isn't that much it's a tiny building, a literal shack, you don't need to charge $29 for a lobster roll. I know lobster is expensive but not $29 sorry. They serve other things like fish tacos. Again very fresh, they use a sweet coleslaw on the fish tacos and their tarter sauce is creamy. It's not bad. Their fries are decent. The Arnold palmer was pretty bad though. All in all its a decent place, somewhere I will come back to but not daily. Like I said a solid 4/5 and any of the negative things are not food related. The points taken off are due to price (overcharging on their main item), dirty seating, closing early at 7pm, being closed Mondays andTuesdays, and the long lines...
