Cafe 44 — Restaurant in Eatonton

Update: one of our favorite places for breakfast or lunch. Not expansive, but a nice selection of items. Food is ordered from the counter and bought out to you. Food is prepared well and quickly. We had a ham and cheese omelette with the greatest cheese grits of all times. My wife had a huge bacon, egg cheese croissant. Service was friendly and efficient. 2022 update: We have had lunch here many times and all visits have been great. During the pandemic bee picked up lunch , but today we went in. I had my favorite Cuban and my wife had chicken salad with greens. We also picked up some holiday coffee beans that caught our eye. Hours are 7am to 4pm, so this is a breakfast, lunch and afternoon meal spot. Located in a strip plaza, parking is always just a short walk away.

Great lunch spot as well as a coffee/pastry shop. Lunch sandwiches and soups are great. I recommend the Cuban. We had lunch there yesterday. There were 3 in our party and all had sandwich's.The quality of the food was ok but the two "lady's" working at the register taking the orders and interacting with the customers need to realize the success of the business comes with the way you treat your customers. Firstly, we all needed napkins which is not kept out in plain sight so I walked up to the register and asked for some and the "lady"said down there around the corner, pointing with her finger! I looked but no napkins down there. Went back and asked again and she said she thought I said restrooms .Ok. Then, when we were ready to leave we had to ask for a box for a sandwich that was not eaten and the "lady" brought one that was way too small for the sandwich and she wanted to argue that it was possible to stuff that sandwich in that box! I've been putting sandwich's in boxes for a long time and I knew right away it was not going to fit, at least not without mashing it in there! I really enjoyed this place. It’s quaint and intimate. Service is excellent. There was a young lady at the register who took the orders. Her name escapes me. She was so sweet and very knowledgeable about the menu. Plus she was wearing a really pretty shade of nail polish. I ordered a cheeseburger and chips. Yes. I said chips, homemade chips at that. And they were DEELISH! The burger was off the chain. It was cooked perfectly, juicy and meaty. Only problem, very small serving. The place is adorned with lots of paintings of famous musicians and photographs of famous place. Which added to the cafe vibe. It definitely screams leisure dining on the lake. Also, there is also an outdoor dining option as well. I enjoyed this place and would come back. It would have love to see more diversity among patrons and staff.
