We had reservations for four at 6:00 Saturday night. We were seated in an almost empty restaurant at the worst table in the place. On the aisle into the main dining area between the doors for the kitchen and rest rooms. A table of 6-8 in front, behind and on the side of us. We had previously checked the menu and knew what we wanted to order. Two of our choices were not on the menu. The server told us the weekend menu was âcompressedâ to assure fine dining on the remaining items. The kitchen assured my husband he could still have the lobster ravioli with vodka shrimp sauce. I ordered the osso bucco. An Italian linguini item was not available so my guest ordered another pasta. My final guest ordered the eggplant parmesan. We did order a very ordinary appetizer. The bread was just that, cut store bread with herbed butter. It is a good think we had that because it was 70 minutes until our plates were served. Only two plates came out of the kitchen at a time. So I and my husband had to wait until someone seemed to notice our whole table was not serviced and raced into the kitchen to bring out my and my husbandâs meal. Simply, it was a dinner I am trying to forget. The pasta dish was less than mediocre. They took it back to the kitchen, added more seasoning and heated it up. The lobster ravioli was hard and cool under a sauce that tasted exactly like the jarred Classico Vodka Sauce I buy at Publix. The worst dish and the most expensive on the menu was the osso bocco. It was over cooked veal shanks with huge chunks of mushy carrots, celery and jarred mushrooms. The only seasoning I could taste was salt. I could have made this plate in my crock pot for a lot less than $35.00. Same with the lobster ravioli which was $32.00. I want to mention the constant server interruptions that prevented us from carrying on a conversation. It was actually irritating as the meal wore on. I keep my salad and finish it with my entrĂ©e. Servers from all over the restaurant continued to try to remove my salad plate while my fork was still in it. We were also prevented from commenting on the meal because the minute we so much as tried to discuss it a server was over our shoulder asking, âwas there a problem, was something wrong, did we want to do something to the food, should they take away a plate,,??? The restaurant was packed by 8:30. Over packed since the level of conversation to be heard above the people next to us was uncomfortable. I would think the only seats where a conversation could be pleasant would be perhaps in the far left corner table or the two far end booths. The dinner music was worthless. A few other observations are that the table water was served in beer glasses and tasted like chemicals. I would have preferred to be asked if I wanted bottled water. Also, we were two couples. When the server brought the check she asked if we wanted separate checks. I said to my friend that was a question she might have asked at the beginning of the meal. I was not talking to the server. But once again these employees felt the need to comment on our conversation and went into a much too long dissertation on it being easier to divide a check at the end and that is what most of her customers want to do and was there a problem and did we want her to divide the check by order, etc. etc. Actually, since I ordered the wine ($40.00) and the most expensive entrees it would have been fairer for my husband and I to get the check amount we ordered and our guests to get a check based on what they ordered. But that was not an issue. Dining out has gotten very expensive. I only want to dine out what I can not make in my own kitchen. When we get packed into a bull pen, have a constant stream of people passing by our table, wait and wait for food and then not be able to even talk about the dinner for fear of server comments it is not worth the bother of dressing...
Read moreI really donât have much to say thatâs nice other than the bartender (we sat at the bar) was nice. The guy who finally greeted us was kind of a jerk. We called before we came and they said they could get us a table for 2 at 7:30 so we headed over. This guy asked if we had reservations (after we had been waiting at the host station unacknowledged for a long time). I said no and he started to cut me off before I could explain about calling ahead. When I explained we were told thereâd be a table for us at 7:30 he smirked and said, âWeâll see.â His attitude just made us feel we werenât valued as customers and he treated other customers much better even ones without reservations. I Iâm not sure if itâs because we were young or because my husband is a minority or what the deal was. There are much nicer ways to tell a customer there might be a longer wait or maybe that theyâd love to have us another night. I donât mind waiting but the dismissive attitude was a red flag. But we were hopeful our food would be good and we could write off the poor welcome as that guy having a bad day.
I felt I couldâve made better food at home, and I am by no means a chef. My husband had the chicken Alfredo and said it was on par with cafeteria food. My chicken piccata seemed like they keep a bunch of precooked chicken breast and just toss sauce on it. I understand time saving measures but the temperature and the texture suggest it had been sitting out a while and possibly had been microwaved at some point.
The best part of our meal was our drinks and the bread and herb butter. We got the bread and butter not long before our food came and the appetizer we ordered didnât come out until we were halfway done with our entrees. The server who delivered it realized that and apologized but I really doubt it was her fault. No one asked how our food or experience was, maybe because they could tell our feedback wouldnât be good. Iâm so disappointed that it wasnât good, as we were hoping it would be a regular option since we are local. Neither of us are feeling very well after eating there, either. Save your money. There are better restaurants to give...
Read moreSadly my first and only experience with Da Corrado was horrible. If I could give 0 stars I would. We had a large pick-up order for the family on Christmas Eve. The manager had called in the afternoon to confirm everything. A good sign? We arrived on time and for the next hour experienced blame of computer systems, too many last minute orders (they had ours from the day before), two attempts to tell us âhere it all isâ only to find it wasnât, and then when I finally got home, two of the items were still not delivered. What made it more painful is that I had tipped them ahead of time for expected good service that I never received, I was paying them to waste an hour of my time, get frustrated and have my family wait also at home, and now found out that I had paid for items that I never got. I called them back to tell them, but still no delivery, refund or even an apology. They never even offered me a drink while I waited, and after I expressed my dissatisfaction and disappointment to the manager before I left, she did finally apologize and told me she would make it up to me, but consistent with this whole experience, I never heard back from her. Had it been a dine-in experience I would have walked out, but with family at home and having pre-paid, I felt hostage. Oh well. Fortunately, we are blessed with many other restaurants in Greensboro where the service is outstanding. I will do my small part for the local...
