If you love a good brisket or ribs, this place does not disappoint. Honestly I was hoping it did as it replaced one of my fave restaurants on the lake (Pickle Barrel). The minute I walked in my nose and taste buds were in bbq heaven. I was like one of Pavlov’s dogs. The aroma of brisket cooking filled the air. If you are like me and dine alone you can appreciate a good bar, especially the seats. Theirs are nice and roomy and esthetically pleasing to the eye.The service was absolutely phenomenal. Upon seating, I was greeted by a warm, friendly and humble gentleman, named Kent whom I later discovered was the owner, sitting in for an employee who had graduated…I think that’s what he said. Ugh! What a boss!! The margaritas are DEELISH! And did I mention, Kent aims to please. He makes sure his patrons are satisfied as he frequently asks, “do you need anything?” Or “How’s that margarita?” As for their brisket and ribs, not sure I can do them justice. Man!!! They just melt in your mouth! Well seasoned, no need for a knife meat just falls off of the bone. And the sauces are just to die for! My fave is the Carolina Gold! DEELISH! If that does nothing for ya, ya have two more choices-a sweet sauce and a sweet and spicy sauce but that would take Kent to tell you about those. This guy knows his sauces. The baked beans are good and the Mac and cheese was ok. Not my style but eatable. All I can say is if you have a craving for some good brisket, this place will surely hit the spot. Very lively and I love that patrons know the owner by name. Kent and his family are some of the nicest, friendliest and humble owners I have ever met. If you decide to patron this establishment, please be sure to ask for Kent and let him know, the NYC TEACHER recommended this place to you. Happy eating! Day2-The food was so good here, my hard to please 76 year old mother actually, asked me to get her brisket sandwich and another order of the banana pudding. This place is...
Read moreFirst and foremost: do NOT opt to eat outside unless you like only seeing a server when food is delivered and don’t like refills. If you eat outside, you order your own food from a website they give you. Once you order, they bring it out quickly, but I can honestly say that’s the only good thing about this place. Including the time a server brought our drinks (and didn’t even say a word to us before he left), the appetizer, and then the entrees 5 minutes later, we saw a server 3 times.
Secondly, the sides were exactly what you’d think which were super lackluster. The green beans tasted like straight baby food. No taste whatsoever and mushy. The Mac and cheese and fries were edible, but that was all I was able to eat.
Thirdly, we ordered bacon as the appetizer. It came out with 5 pieces on sticks in a coffee mug… it was a super strange concept and after the first piece, I noticed a taste that I can only describe as bad meat…
Lastly and most importantly, the barbecue was VERY subpar and DRY. I ended up gagging after the second bite when I hit an end that was straight powder-like. Living in Georgia my whole life and eating barbecue from every place we have close by— I have never tasted anything like it. This is by far the worst barbecue I’ve ever had.
I genuinely wish that we could’ve mentioned the problems that we had, but there really never...
Read moreUpdate: Got s chance to stop by and eat in last night. Barbecue is very subjective with lots of variety and flavors. I happen to really like theirs. Food and service were excellent. Memphis ribs were fall off the Blane tender. They have a very nice selection of main stream and craft beers. Bar area has TV to watch and high top tables. Dining area is minimalist and very open with booths and tables. There are tables and a fountains in the courtyard. Parking is good. Great place for a nice meal.
2022-2 Review: Nice to see we have a good barbecue restaurant. They are open for take out at this time. Unfortunately they were out of the two things we wanted, pulled pork and ribs, so we got the “pick 2 platter” with brisket and sausage. Brisket was delicious but sausage was a little dry and broke up when stabbed with a fork. Mac and cheese and bread pudding were good. Brunswick stew was thick and one of the best tasting I have had. Prices seemed normal except for the baked potato at $12 and getting a protein adds another $4-6. Restaurant inside is modern and open with a dining room in the back and a gathering bar with a few tables in the front. Owner his great plans for 8 hand picked draft beers plus a standard domestic. In restaurant should start...
