Pizza Del Re — Restaurant in Eau Claire

Pizza Del Re is sort of a dive, but in the best way possible, since that's part of its endearing charm. This is a near perfect pizza joint. The pizza is among my top favorites in Eau Claire. The staff is consistently excellent. The salad bar is a little bit lacking in variety, offering only an iceberg lettuce mixture as the base and has no dark leafy green options (spinach/endive/dark green lettuce/romaine.) This criticism is true and significant, but still totally laughable. No one is going there for the salad. It's all about the pizza, particularly the weekday dinner buffet, which is a great bargain and offers an enormous assortment of topping combinations. My husband and kids go nuts for the buttery, gooey, cheesy garlic bread, which tastes best when it's fresh and hot enough to burn your tongue. When a new platter is served, it's immediately torn apart and empty within moments. Pizza Del Re is an Eau Claire icon, one of our lovely little gems, and will forever be in my rotation of places to go when my family and I go out to eat. We leave happy and full every time we go. *Bonus: They serve Coke products, and, in my opinion, Coke is to pizza what peanut butter...

I'm so glad this building is for sale. I have no idea how this "restaurant" has a 4.4 star rating, the salad bar was always sludgy and mushy, you topped your salad with a questionable dressing that was supposed to be ranch? I have never seen a business have so many flies and so much garbage laying on the dining room floor, the employees got WAY to personal with customers who were only trying to be friendly and asked "how are you today". An employee was openly talking their active court case and giving out details loud as can be, most people in the dining room were visibly uncomfortable. Not only can you tell the pizza is frozen just by looking at it, but when you check out and can see the entire kitchen and you see them opening frozen pizza packages....more than disappointing. All the flies and lack of good customer service doesn't help either.

As I walk in things did not start well . It took about a minute and a half to be acknowledged by the boy behind counter. He was more interested in eating then taking care of customers. only to be told to take a seat and someone will be with us . It would have been nice to have a sign saying please be seated. The waitress seemed upset when we didn't order a soda. Things picked up for the better once we got up to get our food. The salad bar is excellent, with crisp cold items and fresh. The hot bar with the pizzas ,garlic cheese bread, mini ham sandwiches and desert were all very good. The waitress was very disappointing she got our drinks and never came back to the table again. I had to ask twice for the bill and then waited 5 minutes for it. But like I said the food made up for the bad service. you cannot beat the price at $7.12 per adult dinner and $6 for adult lunch. Will definitely going back again. Hopefully get a better waitress...
