We are locals who rarely go out on the island, but we decided to treat ourselves only to be sorely disappointed. I placed a very large order to The Fish house around 4:30 expecting there to be a summer rush giving plenty of time for pick up by 5:00. My order came through as being done within 18 minutes which shocked me but started to head that way. MV in July accompanied by copious amounts of rain meant insane traffic on the commute to pick up our food. I arrived at 5:20 to find my bag of food slapped on a shelf in the front lobby of the restaurant. Mind you, I fully expected that my hot food wouldn’t be 100% when I got there. However, I did NOT expect for our RAW TUNA BOWL to have sat at the bottom of the bag under steaming hot food. This is a heath violation if I have ever seen one. I understand it’s busy in the summer, but if you run an establishment that costs people $100’s to eat there I expect someone to hand me my food when I arrive and at least keep the raw fish at a safe temperature until pick up. I went back into the store to discuss this with the manager and ask for a refund but was simply told there’s a “4 hour period where food can’t go bad”.. my husband owned a restaurant for many years and this is a poor example of quality business. SUMMER businesses and some are NOT… Save your money and go to Sandy’s!

Read moreGrowing up on the Vineyard I’m well versed in the local eatery options, & no stranger to fresh fish. & yet I cannot say this emphatically enough: this was THE. BEST. fish sandwich I have ever had. There aren’t many ways to make such a simple dish taste exciting or different but Fish House knocked it out of the park. They are officially my favorite lunch spot on the whole island (yeah, I said it). I’ve been in multiple times for their retail offerings, & their staff is always friendly, efficient, & smiling—a rarity in August. They are doing something right! Looking forward to many more delicious take out meals—best new spot for both up &...
Read moreThe Fish House is one of our favorite spots on the Vineyard. They always have super fresh seafood, whether it’s caught by their own crew or brought in from trusted sources. Over the past few years, they’ve really grown, now offering everything from marinated olives and seafood salads to a solid takeout menu.
Their poke bowls are fresh and flavorful, the fried clams are crispy and satisfying, and if you happen to catch a special like the steak sandwich, don’t miss it. The team is always friendly, and the food is restaurant quality without the typical island markup.
A great mix of quality, convenience, and good people....
