If you're looking for a restaurant with a Desi attitude and a lack of respect where you can enjoy mediocre food, then this is the place for you. However, based on our experience, I would strongly advise against visiting this establishment if you want to have a good time. Yesterday, a group of seven of us went there, with three of us arriving first and the others joining shortly after, around 10 minutes later. We were told that tables would only be given to us once everyone had arrived, which is understandable, but the person in charge had a terrible attitude.
We have been to other American restaurants where we were treated well, even when we requested to be seated before everyone was present. When everyone finally arrived, we noticed that the place was only half empty, with many unoccupied tables. This was quite frustrating, and our mood was already spoiled. We started ordering, but some of us were still browsing through the menu when the waiter began pressuring us to order. Initially, four people placed their orders while the others were still deciding. The waiter continued to push us to order together, even though we wanted to take our time as it was a Friday night. Eventually, we decided to order four appetizers and four drinks, as the restaurant allowed us to bring our own wine and beer. We wanted to try the appetizers while deciding on the main course. However, the waiter came back and asked if that was all we were ordering, displaying impatience. We explained that it was Friday night and we wanted to enjoy our meal at a leisurely pace, but he remained pushy. At this point, our appetite had already diminished due to the poor service. The food arrived late and in a staggered manner. We attempted to order our main courses, but only two individuals, who seemed to think they were privileged, were taking the orders. We had to wait for 30 minutes just for them to take our orders. The main courses also arrived late, further adding to our disappointment. By this point, we were wondering why we had wasted our Friday evening at this place. Throughout the evening, our group was engaged in conversation and enjoying each other's company, but the waiter interrupted us to order more.
Bill came with an approximate $50 gratuity included. It became clear why the service had been so pathetic. We paid the bill and as we were leaving, we informed the person at the reception that the quality of service we received for the $50 gratuity was unacceptable. Instead of accepting our feedback or criticism, he became defensive and went on the offensive. Realizing that our concerns were not being heard, we simply walked away, leaving the place and our ruined Friday behind.
Now, let's talk about the food quality. All the Chinese dishes tasted the same, lacking any distinct flavors. The Gobi Manchurian seemed to be pre-fried and frozen, simply tossed in the sauce. The Home Style Chicken was overwhelmed with masala, and the Goat Kurma was excessively creamy, almost resembling a cashew paste. Chicken 69 tasted identical to Chili Chicken. On a positive note, the Nan and fried rice were good, as was the Garlic Chicken Chinese-style. Out of the 14 dishes we ordered, only 3 were satisfactory, while the rest fell short of restaurant standards. The portion sizes were small, and the price did not match the quantity or the quality of the food.
In conclusion, I strongly recommend avoiding this place if you are seeking a good time. If you're looking for a restaurant that offers quality food and good service in the Edison region, there are certainly better options available. Based on our experience, we will never return to this establishment nor recommend it to others. It's best to stay away and choose a different dining option for a more...
Read moreMy wife stumbled upon Bombay Blue through a social media post, and as a native of Mumbai, I was intrigued by the prospect of Indo-Chinese and Punjabi cuisine on the menu. Our experience at Bombay Blue was a mix of highs and lows, with a few notable aspects worth mentioning.
To kick things off, we ordered the Paneer Chilli and Manchurian as starters, and I must say, they were quite delicious. However, the portion sizes seemed a bit on the smaller side, especially considering the relatively high prices. One downside we noticed was the noise level in the restaurant, which can be quite distracting, but the quality of the starters managed to compensate for this inconvenience.
Moving on to the main course, we opted for the Paneer Kadai. Given the name "Bombay Blue," I had expected an authentic and flavorful experience, but unfortunately, this dish left me disappointed. The excessive use of cream in the curry was a stark contrast to the more balanced approach to milk cream found in Mumbai. Additionally, I've tried their Paneer Bhurji on multiple occasions, and I noticed a consistent trend of cream overload in their dishes, which deviates from the authentic Mumbai flavors I'm accustomed to.
On the brighter side, their Indo-Chinese offerings, such as the Fried Rice and Hakka Noodles, were quite enjoyable and satisfying. These dishes managed to capture the essence of Indo-Chinese cuisine and left us with a pleasant impression.
The restaurant also boasts a selection of mocktails, some of which were quite delightful. Moreover, the BYOB (Bring Your Own Beverage) policy is a boon for those who appreciate a nice drink with their meals, especially on weekends.
In terms of desserts, we tried the Rasmalai, which, unfortunately, fell short of our expectations. It had an artificial, frozen taste that didn't align with the authentic flavors of this beloved Indian dessert.
In conclusion, our experience at Bombay Blue was a mixed bag. While the starters and Indo-Chinese dishes were impressive, the excessive use of cream in certain dishes and the noise level in the restaurant were drawbacks. However, for those who appreciate the BYOB option and are willing to explore a variety of flavors, Bombay Blue might still be worth a visit. Just be cautious about your choice of dishes to ensure a satisfying...
Read moreThis place requires a visit from the health department as the hygiene levels seemed really low. Food was at best average but the highlight of my review is the pathetic low class service. Road side dhaba in India have better service then this place.
Here are some key points:
Service issues
Sat on table, order was taken for next table first apparently you have to give your entire order together 🤦♂️
we sat down and then Sizzler came in but there were no plates to eat in by the way veg sizzler has a full potato served covering half the sizzler plate
Rotis serve were not hot it seems like roti and naaan are just premade And lightly warmed up. Still they take 15 minutes to bring them out.
Malai kofta gravy dropped on client. After that same malai kofta is being served so the server dropped some gravy on the clothes and then quickly wipes with the tissue paper. He probably dropped 20 percent of the gravy and then decides to put that on the table anyways rather then going inside and fixing the item. When I asked them to do it, they came back watering down the Gravy.
Roti ordered for over 15 minutes so it’s a circus on the he weekend. I was constantly trying to order roti by looking at different waiters but they all were just running around. Even after ordering it took over 15 minutes
no water refilled. When I asked them for more water they took the bottle but it was never returned.
to add to the drama while I am waiting for the roti the cleaning staff comes and starts picking up utensil while we are waiting.
bathrooms remind you of Indian public toilet. There is no diaper changing station. child seat buckle broken
with the byob crowds this restaurant is not family friendly.
Not going ever again. If you do have to go then just go for casual hangout but not for...
