I believe their focus is more on novelty than on quality, and consistency is not their strong suit by any means. Some of their staff is wonderful and attentive, while others will look directly at you but not inquire once if you need anything or if everything is going well. The very last time I went in, the counter clerk was delightful and remembered me, gave me a sample of one of their latest beers and then served me my beer order right away. I ordered food at the same time and naturally they needed to prepare it but...funny thing about that, because they never did prepare it. I was alone, reading a book and sipping my beer as I looked occasionally at my phone to see the time passing. I gave myself an hour there, and time waiting in line took about 5-10 minutes, and I was happy to have the beer so quickly but when enough time passed and I was coming close to having to decide if I need to demand a refund to grab food elsewhere and still catch my bus home. When I inquired at the counter about my order, the girl was concerned, stepped to the back and when she returned, she silently tapped away at the register, so I had to ask. What happened? Did they forget me? She said they were already working on orders past mine, so eother they missed it or the original clerk didn't send my order. I know the place was busy that day. For whatever crazy reason, El Cajon parents or maybe they were tourists, were throwing birthday parties for children. Is it because it is one of the most "inventive" burger places in town? Or the $12 overkill milkshakes that are by no means acceptable for consumption by any single person unless you fully intend to get sick from all the decorations of candies and straight-out-of-the-plastic Hostess pastries, all glued and stuck to the glass with frosting and sticks. Yum?
Anyway, I don't like being forgotten, so I did get my refund for my food. And like somebody else mentioned, they do ask for a tip before your meal is even prepped, and I did tip because I could not have predicted this type of negligence. I have not been back since and it has been a couple months now. They lost a...
Read moreThis place has gone way down hill for customer service. I ordered my food over the phone which I was placed on a 15 minute hold which I was never returned to. Had to call back twice to get my order in. Then when I arrived I witnessed employees being very rude and uncaring towards an other customer both yelling and saying obscene things towards each other in front of my 8 year old son. Then when it was my turn they told me my food wasn't ready in the time that my food was supposed to be ready and told me all kinds of excuses as to why my food wasn't ready. I can understand why the other customer was so upset and left. I think management needs to check all employees and retrain their employees with the old adage that the customer is always right. I almost walked away with my son because of the disgust I felt over how both parties treated each other. From a customers point of view the employees should have asked the customer to speak privately and not make such a big scene "show" mean while the employees laugh at the customer after being upset. The people that dealt with me after speaking my truth about being a customer and them doing better as an employee gave me an attitude like he didn't care and when I inquired about my food told me it aint rwady yet so you can either wait or i can go somewhere else. Again this isn't customer server in the least I feel bad for the other customer and I feel even worse for the employees who have no consideration for people in general . I am giving a 2 star because I like the food but this situation leaves a really bad taste in my mouth and am choosing to not return again. Very sad Funky Fries I wish you would train your employees better. Shows no pride in...
Read moreRight from the beginning, this was a bit of an iffy visit. We arrived and were not greeted by anyone at the register so we figured the only option was to use the kiosks on the side to order which was fine. We used them to place our order but had to walk up to the register to pay as the card reader wasn't working. Had to beg for drink cups and the cashier had to triple check the receipt to make sure we ordered drinks. Then, there was no ice in the machine which they knew but didn't bother telling their customers nor did they offer the option of a cold, bottled beverage in lieu of warm fountain drinks. Getting the food was chaotic. They brought it out in several small installments believing they were done with our order each time. We ordered the cream corn bites which were delicious and came out first. A kids Mac n cheese with tots and a chocolate shake which came out last and we had to ask where it was twice because everyone but my youngest already had their food and was eating, but it was good Mac n cheese and the tots were good. Kids burger and fries with a chocolate shake had a very dry and overcooked patty and over seasoned French fries. Mac n cheese burger was my favorite bite of the night even though, again, the patty was over cooked and dry(I even ordered mine medium but it definitely came out well done!) The fried Mac n cheese was really good! Pizza burger toppings were also delicious even with its equally dry burger patty. The onion rings were only OK. We also ordered the gigantic chocolate overload milkshake which turned out to be 50% whipped cream and very runny/ thin milkshake. Overall, I think this place has great concepts but needs to work on...
