Guadalajara Xpress — Restaurant in El Monte

I want to love this place! The girl that served us hustled her ass off you can definitely tell she is new to the restaurant business but she did a great job! She was doing her best. The restaurant got filled fast probably because of social media reasons why we were there but IMO they weren't ready for this big crowd yet! People were walking out, you walk in you kinda have to figure out what to do because you don't know to seat yourself or wait to be seated... then finally you hear from the other side of the room to sit down anywhere. Good thing we got there early we found seating. We sat scanned the table which is cool figured what we wanted then room started to get packed watched how the 2 girls waiting tried their hardest to place the guest and scramble to get orders out then orders started to come out and that became a train wreck slowly good thing that people were not asses to them and understood that they were understaffed and working hard. We then finally got part of our order had to wait on Utensils half our order then finally our complete order. Overall food was good. I will definitely come back hopefully when they are more settled in. Parking situation is not cute! We had to park in residential area very limited parking there is a parking lot to the right does not indicate it's the restaurants parking but clearly says immediate tow away I did not...

For years my husband would take us there. But unfortunately when they got another restaurant you can say they forgot about this one. We stopped going and finally yesterday decided to go. I got my Mar y Tierra. Well the shrimp was as usual good. But the meat was not ranchera. And the peace was really small. Don't get me started on the side salad. Every single peace of lettuce had brown. My rice and beans it was like 2 spoon fulls and that's all. My kids got their cheese burger specials, sadly it looked like they each only got 15 fries. The service was also bad. 2 teens working together all they did was talk and message people. We got there and they ignored us. My husband had to get up and ask if he gets the chips and salsa or will they serve it. The little boys got mad and said no we'll take it. Took his time and tossed it on the table. They were both just talking and making fun of people until the girl heard my husband say "only if they knew we know Tony" who's the owner did she start being nice. The boy on the other hand was so rude. Was messaging Tony's son. I won't say what he said because it was rude but in case anyone from the family reads this they will see I'm not making things up. TONY DONT FORGET YOU HAVE 2 RESTAURANTS!!! TAKE CARE OF THE ONE THAT GOT YOU...

The food was ok. I ordered Mar y Tierra, and the shrimps are wrapped in bacon. I took one bit and had to spit it into the napkin. The bacon and shrimp were both raw. Only the outer layer of the bacon was cooked. I really think that being understaffed affects them. The services was really bad. There were so many empty tables, yet we were told the wait time was an hour to an hour in a half. I don’t think they are ready for a big crowd. They are definitely way under staffed. The poor waitress could not handle a big crowd. You can tell she was new. She kept forgetting everything. Chips, salsas, straws. The onion and cilantro for the birria( which had a bit of a burnt flavor). The iced had completely melted before she brought our straws and we had to remind her. My husband was almost done eating before we saw her again to remind her about the salsas. It’s really hard to find parking, and the one they have is...
