I remember when they shut the place down. I thought it was for good. It was just for renovations. Before they had a huge patio which the space for the patio just about matched the restaurant space inside. Which sort of explains it because the space was originally a Burger King until Burger King called it quits. King Taco only took over the space, spruced it up just a tad, opened up the kitchen area so you can see the guy at the flat top cooking any of the meats. Now that the renovations are finished, the patio is now gone. The seating area has much more tables. It is finally a respectable place by King Taco's standards. You'll just have to wait in line to order. Yes, making the place bigger means it also can pack more people which also means there's going to be a wait. Wait to order, wait for the food, wait for a table, wait for the rest room.
Luckily, it was moving along really well so this time I get to order two suadero tacos and one al pastor burrito. Only if it was one of those clever joints that I can say, the beans are on you, the rice is on me. Wait, that didn't sound right so nevermind. Let's just stick to the basics. I asked for no beans and extra onions & cilantro. I asked for salsa on the side but when my number was called, it didn't look like the guy was going to give me any salsa. I stood there for a second until he looked at me so I can ask for one red and one green. They have new policies if you didn't know. One burrito allows you to have one sauce. Two tacos allows you to have one sauce. Any more or extras than that provided require a $0.60 cents charge. Here is my "pro tip", just ask for what you need when you pick up your order. The person behind the counter most likely will give it to you. I got an extra green because the red can get a little spicy. Just don't forget to...
Read moreTerrible!!! Worse mexican fast food experience I've had since I can't remember when. I spent $12 on 3 soft tacos ( carne asada, carnitas and al pastor).
1.)The girl rings me up and doesn't even say, "thank you." This is a big pet peeve of mine. I'm very service sensitive about cashiers taking my money and not thanking me for my business.
2.)The air conditioning is blasting in there. You can hang meat in there. They obviously don't want people getting comfortable. And I had to wait over 20 minutes for my lousy little order. While I'm waiting I read a sign about their 'hot sauce policy.' Get this-3 tacos gets one hot sauce. 1 burrito - gets 1 hot sauce. After that you have to pay! .69 cents for a lousy hot sauce!!!!!
3.)They finally call my order. I asked the cook for hot sauce and he said he already put. He wouldn't give me any hot sauce.
4.)I eat my tacos and they drenched my tacos in the hottest sauce they have! It was terrible. At least give the customer the choice of how much and when they want to add hot sauce. And my partner ordered a Carne Asada burrito. It was a lot of rice, beans and a tiny bit of meat in a poorly wrapped tortilla. Again, this was drenched in excessive hot sauce.
5.)Burrito fell apart so I went up and asked for chips. They charged me $1.08 for a few chips!!!!!
6.)Like everyone else in the fast food world they expected us to eat their lousy food with 3 napkins. Of course I had to ask for more napkins after the burrito fell apart. Surprisingly they didn't charge me for more napkins.
If this was the last place on earth I will never eat here, again. This organization is mistreating the poor people of El Monte. Do yourself a favor and stay away from...
Read moreI've been in LA for years and years. The majority of the time spent west of the 405. But I've always heard such wonderful things and my friend took me here on my birthday. The people behind the counter were awesome, friendly and recommended menu items that were awesome. I don't think you can go wrong with whatever you order.
From the time you ordered the time you receive your food it can take awhile. On a Monday night around 8 p.m. it was so busy and it took about 25 minutes. There is chairs for you to wait in if you're not going to stay and eat. If you are it's reminiscent of an elementary school cafeteria style seating. Lots of long tables and chairs.
There is a security guard. They take cash and card.
We got asada and al pastor tacos, asada and al pastor sopas, burritos, nachos. The tortilla chips we're totally boring like you could get from a grocery store. The cheese sauce was the liquid cheese that's so gross and delicious and our cashier suggested we put some asada on the side to mix it all in. Delicious.
My favorite was the very simplistic al pastor tacos. The meat was delicious, rich and a hint of sweetness to it, very satisfying. Of course you have to have the red salsa, caliente! The Asado was good but didn't have nearly as much depth in it's taste as the al pastor.
Muy Bueno. No puedo esperar a...
