Banh Mi Che Cali — Restaurant in El Monte

I came in today 08/27/2024 to pick up an order at this location as I'm a food delivery driver. I greeted the employees there, I came in hospitable and I waited by the pick up order area, which there is a sign located to signify the area. I waited about 15 min trying to get someone's attention to let them know I'm here to pick up an order. They saw me and made eye contact with me multiple times and they never asked me if I needed help or anything. My time is valuable so I decided to leave and cancel the pick up as those employees were just ignoring me. If I cannot even pick up an order for someone else, then I would never dine in or buy food from this restaurant, it's disrespectful to simply be ignored, what if I was a customer. I know for a fact language was not a barrier, I have picked up orders at this location before and the same employees that were present are the same I dealt with today. No they were not busy, there was only one customer that 1 employee was helping out, the rest were twiddling their thumbs. As a delivery driver it's important to be able to have clear communication and understanding about a customer's order or my order if I'm the customer, I don't like wasting people's time and vice versa, don't waste my time as well. Not that it should matter, but I'm a Latino man going into a "Vietnamese" restaurant. This review is well deserved. If I take the time to write a review it's because that business made an impact on me, negative or positive, in this case, completely negative. I would say my experience here, since this restaurants always hits so close to home is around a 3.5, I'll round it up since I love coming here alot.

Come here all the time for cheap Vietnamese food. I can't say I always have the best experience though because of a multitude of factors.

First, the service can be hit or miss. They either give you the best service you have ever seen, in and out of the store in a matter of minutes, or you could be there for a good half hour waiting. Second would be the state of the store. It is sometimes really dirty and messy, with dishes and half eaten food on tables when they get too busy to clean up the tables. Third, the food can sometimes be hit or miss as well. Depending on what you get, the food could be the best thing alive or the worst thing you have ever eaten. Personally, I have felt that their Pho and other soup dishes like their Bun Bo Hue is always consistently good.

They also have alot of deals going on every single day as well as BOGO Free Teas and Milk Teas and BTGO Free on Banh Mi. Their Pho Ga is always $5 too I believe, which is the dish I get the most and can vouch for as being decent.

All in all, I would like to give this place a formal 4 stars, even 5, but until they get their act together with the consistent cleanliness of the store and their customer service, I do not see me giving them a...

Long wait for 5 orders of pho to go. Waited 35 minutes. Not sure what to do if I order it via drive thru and have to sit there. It's hard core Asian stuff so look away for some cleanliness issue. Mainly I would guess this is the owner lady did an ad hoc food prep coming back from storage across the path in the same plaza. Marches right in grabbing door handles then proceed to make some sort of batched beverage (not milk teas). Extra tasty 😋. Waited there for so freaking long in the late afternoon 5-6ish saw a lot of peeps waiting as well. To to go food was ok. I wasn't too worried about extra tasty because I boiled the soup when I got home and make sure things are cooked. The rare beef pho got 3 slices of rare beef. The soup was salty and tasty as expected. Added some water while I re-prep them. The overall quantity was above the other location say the one on Valley near Walnut Grove or the one on Gavey near New. But not sure if they are related. I would never recommend pho GA because I had yet come across a good one.
