This was my first experience with rolling ice cream. We went in late in the evening and found a very sharply dressed young man behind the counter. He was playing interesting jazz music on the radio. There was no one else in the establishment and he was organizing things behind the counter and pre-writing little Valentine's Day notes on the paper cups.
I didn't know what to order so I asked his favorite, and he set about making it. He poured out the liquid onto the cold surface and expertly mixed in all of the goodies. Presently he rolled the concoction up with a spatula and placed it into a paper cup with a magician's flair!
In this country we are accustomed to getting pretty good service in most establishments. It makes it hard to stand out when you are a business that might have stiff competition within just a few blocks. Aurora Rolling Ice Cream is not only a delicious cup of ice cream, but the friendliness of the staff combined with the music and cleanliness of the facility make this an experience not to be missed. We were only in town for 4 days, and we went back...
Read moreWe were here for 20 minutes addressing some guy in the neighborhood trying to get into our car. He was peeking over while we were waiting for the guy in the fedora hat to get our order. He was the only one making it there. While we were trying to ADDRESS THE MAN TRYING TO GET IN OUR CAR, the man in the store was arrogantly smirking continuing to make the rolled ice cream for another order. He did not seem to be bothered at all. He knew we were there, and when 2 other people came in, he did NOT SEEM TO CARE TO PROVIDE CUSTOMER SERVICE GETTING US FIRST. Almost as if "it's not my problem". Maybe he was LAZY TO GET OUR ORDER? I hope YOU read this comment. Poor customer service in a poor area. THANK GOD FOR THE LADIES NEXT DOOR FOR TELLING US. GOOD PEOPLE, GOOD CHARACTER. I don't buy wigs but ID RATHER BE...

I came off as a reporter, so they were not bad-mouthing the establishment. They looked a bit down that evening when I picked up an order for a customer, which is why I asked. and the consensus was that the decor may need an upgrade, particularly the yellow walls, and that perhaps earning a bit more per hour would put a bigger smile on their faces. You would think that an ice cream place would be a fun and exciting place to work. It wasn't that night. I agree with the ambiance, perhaps needing some innovative implementations and making more opportunities for company promotion, professional development, and growth. Just an outsider's perspective that thinks about employment...
