I am a up coming Chef in the El Paso Culinary scene, during the holidays I purchased a very significant amount of product. The quality was excellent as well as the service. However today I attempted to make another purchase, when I called there was a break down in communication due to my lack of knowledge in speaking Spanish. A older female answered the phone was very aggressive and rude being I didn't speak Spanish. I attempted to ask to speak to a supervisor and was placed on hold. This was done by placing the phone on the counter for several minutes. Then the phone was hung up. I attempted to call back a second time, this time I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told " No Spanish " No Supervisor ". I retrieved a person fluent in Spanish, after explaining my situation thru translation, the individual changed her entire attitude. I asked for the owner name and explained I will call back after the owner came back from break. In a sad attempt to excuse accountability a phone called was placed to the owner that a emergency had occurred and I needed to be contacted immediately. The owner then called rite away , and using vulgarity , and a hostile attitude suggested she was at lunch and would call back. For me this was the worst customer service I have ever received. Since when do you need to know another language to speak with a supervisor. As a business owner I would never use vulgarity towards a customer. I was very disappointed. I'm sure every one raves about Gussies, but it is obvious this only a local establishment and does not deal with high caliber clientele. I will make sure to pass this information along to all in the El Paso Culinary field. It seems they are comfortable where they are so much that business and customer service is...
Read moreTerrible service. Lady named Dolores said she was the owner answered the phone. I asked if they had tamales. I called back. She answered and had me on hold for over 9 minutes. When I arrived she answered and asked what I needed. I asked her if they had enough tamales for a dozen ( keep in mind I was walking in) she said I don't know there's a line of people out the door buying them and hung up. There was 4 ppl in line ahead of me and when she hung up she started mocking me. Telling the current customer paying that I asked a bunch of question and asked her name. She was mocking my queations. I was recording her on my phone the whole time when I got to her not even 5 minutes inside I order the tamales. She knew it was me and asked if I had just called. I asked for an owner and she said she was the owner and her husband, I asked if she could tell him to call me. She was hesitant but I wrote down my number. I told her she was rude and I had seen her mocking and talking about me. I know this is a well known place but if she can't handle 4 people in line maybe its time to hire ppl. She was rude the whole time talking under her breath saying I wasn't rude. When I told her she was rude for mocking me because I heard her talking about me she didn't know what to say. I recorded the whole transaction. I do not recommended this place. What happened to customer service? Would it have killed her to stop and ask the employees in the back? This was my first time here and my last thanks to the owner Dolores. I'll be posting the video on social platforms. I like to support local business but ones like this have no place in...
Read more12/8/17 - An Update! I don't think I will ever return to Gussies. I was witness to the OWNER be mean and rude to an elderly man and his wife. They arrived with other elderly people and all this man wanted to do was buy his grandson a cookie for when he visits. When he reached the counter the OWNER told him very rudely and loudly that she couldn't run his card for $0.84. He apologized and stated that he didn't know and didn't have any change. She then had him place his cookie in a bag and placed that bag under the counter. She just stared at him until he turned and started pushing his wife (who was in a wheelchair) out the door. I explained to the OWNER that I would like to pay for his cookie and her response (which was what pushed me over the edge) was "Why bother? By the time you buy it the van will be gone!" Are you kidding me? That whole scene for $.084. She then tried to justify her behavior by saying that I didn't understand. And she sure is right! I don't understand why she had to be so rude and mean. It was almost like she enjoyed having her little power trip. I am not saying that she should be handing out free cookies but maybe a little more decorum would have been nice. Especially coming from the OWNER!!!! The whole thing left me disgusted. However, I did get the cookie to the man and his wife...
