Yes!!! Is all you need to know.

We were driving through the state with another 5 hours to go. We decided to go off the beaten path a bit to get some local coffee and Java Café did not disappoint!

The coffee is smooth and pleasant, not bitter or acidic tasting. The ice cold Mocha drink was not only tasty but a work of art!! Nice job!

We ordered a few scones and they were amazing! The lemon lavender was so lemony and just a tad of the lavender. Lemon blueberry filled with berries and tart lemon flavored. The favorite was the chocolate mint. Admittedly, we weren’t too sure about that as a scone but it did not disappoint at all. It was beautifully decorated too.

The scones are soft but crispier on the edges, just like we like them. The packaging was so cute too!

We drove thru, which was kind of a bummer because as unique as this building was on the outside / the inside was probably amazing. To be an old city hall converted into a coffee shop - you probably don’t see that every day. The beautiful brick building, very welcoming outdoor space, this is one of the places we want to put on our go-to places when driving thru IL.

The service is excellent and barista so pleasant. Thanks for great...

My order was supposed to be ready at 1135 so I got here at 1140 to give them more time since it usually takes a few minutes more on Sundays/busy days. I pulled up to the drive thru as the instructions say on the website, and due to me being pregnant it is what is easiest for me. I rang the button for service waited, and rang again, they claim they didn't hear me ring it at all, which is fine however; I sat there for 10 minutes waiting and watched people looking at me from the doorway so they knew someone was at their window. So I went. Parked my car. And went inside to get my stuff. Now my drinks are melted. And I didn't have time to wait for them to warm up the breakfast casserole I had to get instead of the quiche I ordered, and I'm just kinda disappointed. I would just say, if you see a customer sitting at your window for 10 minutes greet them! Maybe they are confused or need help, or MAYBE your button...

Firstly, I love the kids space (play area with toys and magnetic board). You don't see that many coffee shops with that. Secondly, I love the atmospheric vibe. Ita decoration gives a certain vibe that we are attracting to. You can see pictures. The reason for two stars. Ultimately, it comes to the coffee itself. We ordered small dark roast house coffee and large light roast house coffee. The taste of coffee is quite disappointed. It does not taste a nice, smooth, roast coffee as it supposed to be. I suspect the drip coffee has more water than coffee. Or... or... this may be the overreaching conclusion that they are using cheap or knock off coffee beans. Call ourselves the avid coffee adventurers (drinkers) and this place sorely failed. We are travelers so it won't be starred on our Google map for the...

This place is a local gem! They serve wonderful pastries and coffee and cookies and smoothies. Breakfast and dining service end at 11am but lots of goodies are on sale later on...like pastries cookies, coffee, smoothies protein balls. We missed breakfast but we super happy with the other items, and the breakfast menu looked great. I managed a breakfast muffin because there was one left and it was really good. The atmosphere is cozy and clean, check the pics. The bathroom was the cleanest I have seen. The counter person was friendly and helpful. If you are nearby stop in! June 2024 update: still there and great smoothies and scores this time.
