Out in the West Texas town of El Paso I fell in love with a Mexican girl. Night-time would find me in Rosa's cantina; Music would play and Felina would whirl. Blacker than night were the eyes of Felina, Wicked and evil while casting a spell. My love was deep for this Mexican maiden; I was in love but in vain, I could tell. One night a wild young cowboy came in, Wild as the West Texas wind. Dashing and daring, A drink he was sharing With wicked Felina, The girl that I loved. So in anger I Challenged his right for the love of this maiden. Down went his hand for the gun that he wore. My challenge was answered in less than a heart-beat; The handsome young stranger lay dead on the floor. Just for a moment I stood there in silence, Shocked by the FOUL EVIL deed I had done. Many thoughts raced through my mind as I stood there; I had but one chance and that was to run. Out through the back door of Rosa's I ran, Out where the horses were tied. I caught a good one. It looked like it could run. Up on its back And away I did ride, Just as fast as I Could from the West Texas town of El Paso Out to the bad-lands of New Mexico. Back in El Paso my life would be worthless. Everything's gone in life; nothing is left. It's been so long since I've seen the young maiden My love is stronger than my fear of death. I saddled up and away I did go, Riding alone in the dark. Maybe tomorrow A bullet may find me. Tonight nothing's worse than this Pain in my heart. And at last here I Am on the hill overlooking El Paso; I can see Rosa's cantina below. My love is strong and it pushes me onward. Down off the hill to Felina I go. Off to my right I see five mounted cowboys; Off to my left ride a dozen or more. Shouting and shooting I can't let them catch me. I have to make it to Rosa's back door. Something is dreadfully wrong for I feel A deep burning pain in my side. Though I am trying To stay in the saddle, I'm getting weary, Unable to ride. But my love for Felina is strong and I rise where I've fallen, Though I am weary I can't stop to rest. I see the white puff of smoke from the rifle. I feel the bullet go deep in my chest. From out of nowhere Felina has found me, Kissing my cheek as she kneels by my side. Cradled by two loving arms that I'll die for, One little kiss and...
Read moreThis past Sunday (Feb 14th, 2016), my friend and I were looking forward to visiting Rosa's, and eating a famous Martha's burrito and enjoying one of their delicious margaritas. When we sat down at the bar, we were asked to show identification, which was expected. The bartender looked quizzically at the front and back of my Kansas driver's license. My friend then handed over her Canadian identification (she is originally from Calgary and was visiting El Paso this week). The bartender kept both ID's and spoke very briefly with the manager. The bartender then returned our ID's and stated they're were refusing to serve us. We asked for an explanation, and she said stated that our ID's were out of state, and she could not determine when our birth years were, despite the fact that we are both 21+. I was obviously upset and asked to talk to the manager. The manager did a few laps before speaking to us. When she finally did come over, she stated that the staff was unable to legitimize our ID's because they weren't Texas ID's and that our appearance gave the impression that we were under 21, which is obviously not the case. She also said that if we lived here, we needed Texas ID's. The fact is that we are both students and do not have an obligation to obtain Texas issued identifications. The manager was also unable to read our birth years correctly (which is 1993 an 1994). The manager informed us that she had the right to refuse service to anyone, and I agreed if she had a legitimate reason for refusing service. I told her that age discrimination and discrimination and based on origin are not justifiable reasons for doing so, and that we would not be frequenting Rosa's anymore. I refuse to go back to Rosa's until this manager has gone through additional training or is removed from her position. I plan on putting this story on every restaurant review websites of Rosa's and telling everyone I know about my experience of injustice at this...
Read moreFirst time here, southern Texan trying an El Paso staple. The atmosphere is lively and fun! The only good thing about my experience there. The service was slow, but i figured it wouldn't take that long to get a waitress to just come and get our drink orders. Sadly, I was wrong. I came w/my brother and mom for a late dinner. They both ordered burgers after waiting a while to order food as well & I just wanted a simple bowl of caldo. I wasn't too hungry for a big entree. We waited a while for the food. Burgers finally came out, but my caldo never came. I waited even longer for something that should have been out in less than 10mins. I actually had to wave down another waiter to get help. He went to check for me, turns out they had forgotten my order. He had the audacity to tell me, it would be out in 2 mins. Obviously, that was a stupid response to give me. I waited EVEN longer than 2 minutes after he came to tell me that. After a long time waiting, my mom and brother had finished their burgers and I was still waiting for a simple bowl of caldo. The only reason I didn't even get charged for it was because I had to verbally tell them the obvious. I do not want it after waiting about an hour for it. I'm simply not interested in eating long after my the rest of my party has finished their meals & drinks. I wasn't interested in taking the caldo back to my hotel with me either. **The chili cheese burger was good but not appetizing to look at. There was way too much of the sauce drizzled on it that it soaked into the buns and fell apart upon picking it up. Either, serve the sauce on the side or ask how soaked in sauce does the customer want their burgers to be. **I thoroughly enjoyed my tropical coconut margarita. **limited menu with the main meat offered is...
