I am still on the hunt for a great Chinese restaurant in El Paso and decided to check this place out a few weeks ago. It was actually really disappointing. I ended up ordering the Moo Goo Gai Pan - chicken with fried rice. This came with an order of egg drop soup and egg roll. I liked that they sat me right away and when I ordered my sprite I liked that they gave me a small pitcher so I wouldn’t be without something to drink and they use paper straws. The egg roll soup was ok and warm at least. The egg roll was actually really good and I enjoyed eating it. The fried rice was a disappointment and I didn’t eat it. It didn’t have a good flavor and was bland. The Moo Goo Gai Pan chicken was also bland and had hot spots and cold spots. To top everything off, everything came out within 5 minutes of ordering so I didn’t have time to enjoy my soup and egg roll before my entree came out. Over all, I won’t go back and on the search for my favorite Chinese spot continuous.

Prior two visits were very disappointing. Poor service the main problem. Last night I’d decide to give it a 3rd chance. Mind you that I’ve been a very steady patron for almost 20 years. Last night was strike 3 for me. No welcome smile, no nice to see you again, no greeting at all. Reluctance to explain the menu as I asked for Orange Shrimp. Server muttered only orange chicken. I said you’ve done it for me before. I ordered hot Jasmine to to warm me up…it came out tepid at best. I ordered egg roll for an appetizer. Cold to the core…yesterday’s batch. Then my beef with snow peas…a huge portion came out with half a bowl of sticky white rice. 😫 THEN the main course was cold, too, in spots. The gravy was still gelatinous. I could go on and on but the final assault was my bill of $24.99. I’m serious. Sooooo never again for me. I’m now at Teppanyaki Grill on Lee Trevino and for $13.71 behold the difference in the photo. Hot, fresh, and all you can eat.

It's okay. From living here I've gotten used to large portions when it comes to Chinese food, and I went out expecting to be able to have some food for the rest of the week, but when I saw the serving and presentation I realized that this is more of a dining experience. The portion size was less than expected, but the quality and service were on point. The whole place kind of feels run down, like the business is struggling to modernize, and it has a bunch of signage in broken English that doesn't reflect well on the management. I think it fits the area economically, and the prices are a little higher than the menu pictures shown. My lunch was like $16 out the door. This restaurant has a dedicated building, but I am going to get Chinese from a strip mall shop for quantity sake. The whole experience felt very 1990s, if not earlier, but I think the operation could benefit greatly by working on the experience. Value: 6/10.

I have always loved their food but unfortunately my experience last Sunday was disappointing. First of all we walk in and get greeted by one of the servers who smiles at us but then starts fighting with the other server about something not sure what I can infer it had something to do with the tables already seated. As our server is taking our order she continues to fight so she’s asking us for our order then proceeds to argue with the same server. This already set a negative vibe for us as we were trying to enjoy a peaceful and relaxing meal . The food was not as it always has been so that was disappointing. So this server rushes us to say our order but then continues to interrupt us because she’s arguing with her coworker. The amount of rice served to us was very little and I did notice that there was a difference in portions for us than for another family there but I dont want to insinuate anything it was just very noticeable. As we are sitting there we notice a customer waiting to be greeted and seated and she waits for a good 10 minutes . She then gets seated and requests the lunch special but the server says oh it just finished I can’t offer the lunch special anymore . She did say she had arrived with enough time but she wasn’t seated , yo which I agree with. How are you going to penalize a customer for your lack of customer service ?!? It used to be a pleasant place to visit with great food but I definitely was not happy with any of it this weekend. So sad because this was our favorite Asian...

Went to Shan Dong on a whim trying to find a good Chinese place in the area... not exactly what we found... we found a restaurant that gets drink orders messed up... my wife ordered water and they brought tea. I ordered Coke and they brought out this "pitcher" of coke which I assume is the easy way for a waiter/waitress to be lazy and not check on the customers. Then they brought out my wife's soup but not my egg rolls. When my egg rolls came out she had finished her soup and they decided to give her my egg rolls, which were cut in half and falling apart. The egg rolls were bland and greasy. They once again brought my wife's meal before mine. Half the chicken in her entree was black... not like burnt black either... I ordered sweet and sour pork... the batter was gobbed on in places and non-existent in others. And then the sauce... OMG the sauce... started out a bit thicker than I would have liked... but as the meal was being eaten and cooled off... it went from thick... to jello... to wallpaper paste! It seriously would not fall off of a fork! At first it made my wife sick to watch me play with it but then she started playing with it as well... heck of a kid toy! Not to mention that the bill was $30 for 2 appetizers and 2 entrees. WELL over what I would have liked to pay... and we had to flag down a waitress in order to get the check... not a place I will be...

Great food, very poor service, rude, arrogant, very impatient when dealing with their customers when the customer is needing more time to order, certain older employees and not the young employee are very tentative and patient with their customers. Best thing is to ignore those individuals who give you attitude and be happy with the great food they served. Good luck

After several months and re-visiting this place I strongly believe they are in need of closing/selling the place, the potential of being a great Chinese Restaurant could materialize if "ONLY" their"ATTITUDES would CHANGE FOR THE BETTER" by putting on a Happy face, smile, serve with a positive feeling and or the right attitude, not walk around as if they are ready to hurt someone, maybe the cooks and staff need to find another more friendlier place to match the food, they're short staff and have been for awhile, it is obvious. I truly feel sorry for the poor staff who have to work under these unpleasant conditions, it is not a happy place for employees working there. Sorry, but I tell it like it is when the work environment...
