Tacos Chinampa — Restaurant in El Paso

I recently dined at Tacos Chinampa, and while I had high hopes based on the menu and atmosphere, my experience fell short in a couple of key areas.

First, the noise level in the restaurant was overwhelming. The music was far too loud for a comfortable dining experience—conversation at the table was difficult, and it felt more like being in a nightclub than a restaurant. A lower volume would have made a big difference in creating a more relaxed and enjoyable ambiance.

Additionally, the service left much to be desired. Our waiter seemed distracted and somewhat disengaged throughout the evening. We had to flag her down multiple times just to get water refills, and there was a long wait between ordering and receiving our meals, with no updates or apologies. When we finally did get our food, there was no follow-up to check if everything was okay.

To be fair, the food itself was decent—nicely presented and reasonably flavorful—but the poor service and disruptive noise level overshadowed the positives.

CONSUMER BEWARE!! We have eaten here prior to today and really enjoyed the food the first time. However this time we arrived and it seemed as if the owner had a family celebration going on there, which was cool it was dinner and a show but the karaoke was too loud and too much. The food was horrible and very greasy, the service was horrible as well and lacked the attentiveness you would hope to get. We left very much disappointed but the reason for the one star apart from everything else is once we got home and a few hours past our daughter got very Ill and started throwing up. We didn't think much of it until I myself started with the same issues. It became apparent that we got food poisoning from tacos chinampas!! I will be putting in a complaint to the health dept first thing in the morning but just thought I would give a heads up to those that may think about...

This place was very nice. My daughter & boyfriend took me there for my 65th birthday!! I had always wanted to try this place because they always announce how good the food is on the radio on one of the local stations. The atmosphere was nice. The friendly & professional waitress sat us down right way. She brought us some chips & salsa which were delicious. Then she gave us all a menu. I ordered the Mexican plate. My daughter & her boyfriend ordered the beef quesadillas with cilantro & onions! We enjoyed everything! Then since it was my birthday my daughter's boyfriend asked the staff to sing "Happy Birthday" to me which they did an awesome job! They sang "Las Mananitas" to me and almost made me cry! Lol.
