Richards Restaurant & Lounge — Restaurant in Elberton

As with most places I visit, this incredible place was recommended by more than one local. The place was fairly quiet, but then it was to be expected for a Tuesday night. By the time I was leaving, a decent number of locals had filtered in. The server was attentive, but gave me time to study the menu without hovering. After consulting with a local (thanks SM👍), I ordered hamburger steak, home-style fries and a salad. Everything was outstanding. A different server came by to pick up my empty plate and talked me into having a piece of cake. It was one of the most amazing desserts I've ever had in a restaurant. By the time I left, I was so full I could barely breathe! They have lunch specials, and I highly recommend Richards. Just flat-out gross from professionalism to the 'grilled' broccoli. As I walked in to this disaster, I knew it wasn't a good idea. The 'head chef' was screaming and cussing (yes screaming and cussing) at someone to remind him that he's 'head chef'. Well la-de-da. It visibly turned everyone off and some people walked out. The grilled shrimp was in a bowl and had no presentation, except for the broccoli, which looked like it was heated by a jet engine. The kicker was on the way out; the sign above the door said in child-like bad scroll 'no cussing' and printed badly as an afterthought 'no exceptions'... I guess except for 'Chef' Podunk. Live and learn. I immediately went to Captian D's up the street in frustration. I'm sure the people in this town wouldn't know a 5 star review if it slapped them...

I really wanted to like this place on our first visit but I don't think we'll be back. The atmosphere was nice, but the waitress was a little short with us and she looked to be cashing out for the day mid way through our meal. We sat, waiting for drinks for well over 20 minutes. The food was decent, but the flies OMG...we constantly swatted at flies dive bombing us and so did the next table. When one landed in my food I was finished! I told the 2nd waitress and she said it happens because the granite workers open the door a lot during the day.
