the “Big Cheese”
Word Has it… There is a New Boss in Town…
This was my First Dining Experience at Capone’s Speakeasy… my mouth is watering just thinking about it. I’d already visited for a cocktail (or two) before & had the pleasure of enjoying this intimate dining experience with my husband… our first DATE in 3 years…
So… my dapper husband got a FADE at the classic Karl’s Barber Shop… put on some fresh DIGS and headed out for what we’ve been missing… Quality Crafted Dining… this ain’t no regular DIVE… don’t let this GRILLED CHEESE… fool ya…
Thick Sour Dough Bread, brought to a Perfect Crisp on the outside… and Warm Gouda Cheese on the inside. My PEEPERs instantly fell in love with the Golden Tones…
Speaking of tones… we were Groove’n to some JAZZY tunes… even if your not from the era, you may recognize a few of your favorite songs… with a jazzy swing… oh… did I forget to mention the pip’n HOT Baked Potato and House Salad with homemade dressing… a perfect teaser…
Everyone knows… its no secret that the BIG CHEESE can’t be left alone… so in comes the HOT TOMATO… I’m not talking about a DAME… I’m talking about the house made Tomato Soup… wow… it gave the BIG CHEESE a run for its CHEDDAR.
Speaking of Dough… as someone that lived and ate well in California and New York… it outta be a crime… how affordable the dinner & drink menu is… if your FLAPPIN’ your JAWS about somewhere exceptional to EAT… but are livin’ on a DIME… you gotta check out this JOINT… And if you got the DOUGH… good on ya…
These drinks are The Cat’s Meow…
Of Course a meal at a speakeasy isn’t complete without some HOOCH… We already love the classic OLD FASHION… but try on a New TWIST… and get her smoked… these small details are what makes a SWANKY place like this stand out from any regular watering hole… ya DIG?
Get the Word on the street… and find your self the PASSWORD… this will be an EASY evening that will make your taste buds water for more… just keep it on the silent side when you tell your friends… Don’t want no Coppers gettin’ wind of it… If you see Ryan and I… sipping on some Smoked Old Fashions… give us a nod… we’ll know where you...
Read moreFinally got to try out Capone's in Eldon. Here's the scoop.... Went early for some drinks and we were not disappointed. We tried a few different ones and the presentation as well as the flavors were really good! Adding the "smoke" for an extra buck was worth it as it is not something we do at home. Drink prices were fair but a little on the higher end. We had looked at the menu on-line and they require 24 hr notice for steaks. Ordered the filet mignon which came out perfectly cooked but the trimming could have been better as there was still some silver skin and gristle. The steak came with baked potato which was great. We all had dinner salads that were good with a nice mix of greens. The mixed veggies, which came with all of our meals, were way overcooked and none of us ate them. Tomato soup came with all of or meals as well and was ok. One in our party had the grilled cheese which was also ok but kind of underwhelming considering it was on a dinner menu. Another ordered the brisket beef dip and he only ate about a third, saying that it seemed that it was cut the wrong direction and was chewy. The steak came with chocolate cake for dessert and it was AMAZING. Overall, the three of us concurred that Capone's was worth the trip and would probably give them another shot. Especially for the area. The location is good, the service was great, the drinks were on point and the dessert was wonderful. The menu and food quality could use some attention in our humble opinions. It was a bit chilly in there and the bartender (owner?) could smile a little more..... Hopeful for this place as they have some cool ideas. Just need a little tweaking, which we are certain they will...
Read moreWe went for mom and Dad's anniversary with our aunt and uncle. The experience was fun and friendly and the food pretty good. Mom didn't get in her fancy orders but they were still able to provide. The Braechitte was yum! The brownie at the end was yum. Mim said the Ribeye had great flavor and my uncle said the mai mai tuna was pretty good. The bum part was for the price you pay, the food didn't match up even with the side salad, soup, and brownie. It was good... Trust me. Dad got the Italian beef and was very disappointed. My dad doesn't pick at food and half the sandwich was left behind. He believes they made it too early while they were making the other plates so it was under a warmer. The dip was luke warm and the sliced beef still has the grisle in the center so it wasn't shaved quite right. The bun was cold so the cheese didn't stay melted. Overall, it was a good meal, the waitress was a bit new and made a comment that bummed me out. We wanted to pay since it was mom and Dad's anniversary and her comment was "you must be rich". Sad face.. yes, we work hard and no we aren't rich but yes, we love our family and covered the meal. I would suggest going for the experience, but be prepared to spend a pretty penny but take your time.. the cost covers your time...
