Whitey's Ice Cream — Restaurant in Eldridge

We stopped here when we were visiting family in Eldridge. Our experience was disappointing and disrespectful, at best. Two employees were behind the counter when we walked in. We were the only customers. There was no greeting or " I'll be right with you". We were blatantly ignored for three minutes before someone took our order (after they both saw us). We were stared at angerly and made to feel like an inconvenience, she put a pad of paper down and put her pen to the paper and stared at us. Once we said our order and said thank you she turned around, just short of rolling her eyes. Our server said nothing to us for at least 10 minutes. She did announce the total when we cashed out. That was it. This is a Disrespectful environment for customers and I would not recommend. We didn't get much out of this place except over priced ice cream...

This Whitey's has the worst, slowest service I've ever seen. Went on a Saturday night at 8:30, probably the busiest time of the week, and there were only 5 people staffed out front! The Davenport/Bettendorf Whitey's normally have at least 8-10 staffed during busy times. Got to the counter and it took 5 to 7 minutes of staff dealing with the drive thru and other orders before they even LOOKED in our direction. Never happens at a Whitey's. All in all it took 25 minutes from the time we walked in the door to the time we were eating ice cream. The ice cream is good, but I feel like Whitey's is a bit overrated in general, feels like a cult following more than anything. They were voted best ice cream in the WORLD last year? Give me a break. Cold Stone/Smooth both have creamier, better...

My husband and I just stopped to have a scoop of our favorites - praline pecan and butter pecan but for the first time in 34 years they were awful! So disappointed. The praline pecan used to have larger chunks of actual praline pecan but this stuff had tiny pieces of nuts with no praline. My husband questioned if these were actual pecans in his. We both thought they tasted bitter. My ice cream was very soft as well. If you have changed suppliers or the recipe, it's not working. Won't be back for these favorites and maybe not at all.
