Took my 15 year old daughter and my 86 year old mother here for dinner at 6:30pm on a Saturday evening for the first time. It was not busy at all and we thought that was strange for a Mexican Restaurant on a Saturday evening, but once we experienced the service, or the lack there of, we understood why. We walked in and my first impression was it was clean looking. After waiting for what seemed like 5 minutes before ever seeing an employee we were greeted by an older bigger gentleman by simply saying âhow many?â He then grabbed 3 menus walked briskly ahead of us by at least 20 feet threw the menuâs on the table and kept walking and never looked back. So, l guess this is our table? We sat down a few minutes later the same gentleman brought chips and salsa asked for our drink order. We ordered our drinks my mom ordered water with lemon. He wrote it down and walked off. He returned with the waters sat them on the table and walked off without speaking a word. No lemon, no straws (who wants to put your mouth on a glass at a restaurant especially in todayâs world) he returned a few minutes later and asked if we were ready to order. I said âneed a few more minutes, but she didnât get her lemon and none of us got strawsâ he said âwe donât have lemonsâ and took three straws from his shirt pocket and literally threw them on the table and walked away. We finished our chips, had a lengthy conversation and pretty much finished our drinks while never seeing him again. After about 15 minutes we just got up and started walking out. As we approached the door he was ringing up a customer who was leaving while 2 other customers were waiting (like we had) for him to finish to be seated. Again, this place was not busy and this guy was just rude. This lack of service you almost expect now days, but not with the attitude this guy had. If he owns the place he needs to close it, if he works there he needs fired. Eleanor might be the cleanest town in WV, but itâs far from the friendliest, at least in this case. Btw, we drove 7 miles to El Rancho Grande in Teays and they were busy, but we had good service and had chips, salsa and finished our meal in less than the amount of time we spent at this place to get seated and get chips, salsa and water! My 86 year old mom even made a comment about the rudeness of this gentleman. Never again! On to Yelp, Facebook and every other review site for this restaurant. After the last year for locally owned small restaurantâs the good ones need supported and ones like this one need to...

The guy finally came out, asked how many and pointed at the empty room for us to choose a seat. Once seated he brought out our chips and some very watery salsa. He took our drink order only for me to be told no alcohol (no license) even though there was a drink menu on our table. I order a Diet Coke which is on the menu only to be told they have Pepsi products. He brings our drinks out and tries to take our order, we asked for more time but we would take some cheese dip. The dip we received was what I would call lukewarm but it wasnât terrible. We finally order and received our food rather quickly. But after that it didnât take us long to realize the guy waiting on us was the only person working! He would disappear for a long time before coming back out. After eating rubbery tortillas filled with subpar meat we decided we couldnât eat anymore. My daughter went to use the restroom. She said it was absolutely filthy! One door wouldnât close and the other one had no toilet paper. She also had to turn the water on to the toilet to even flush it. At this point we just wanted to leave but the guy was nowhere to be found. Finally after about 10 minutes another customer came in and he finally resurfaces as I was getting up to go find him. Nothing was rang up on a register only written down on paper. I watched him type in my amount on the credit card machine $31.74, I made sure I marked out the tip line on the receipt (because no way was I tipping for the âserviceâ or lack there of) and wrote my total in at $31.74 only to get to the car and realize they charged my card $37.74 so he helped himself to a $6 tip. 10/10 do not recommend...
Read moreOur party of 3 counted 4 mistakes with our dine-in order. One dish had lettuce that was asked to be removed but wasn't, one was missing sour cream, and one was a completely different dish than was ordered. We aren't the complaining type so we ate the food and just let the server know so they could do better next time (He seemed very new). Then it got interesting..
I asked for a check and told the server to simply make sure that we weren't charged for the sour cream or guacamole since we never received them. He came back and said you did receive the guacamole and pointed to the below picture.. When I rebutted that this is not guacamole, the owner came out and in a very condescending tone explained that this is guacamole like Mexicans make it, and he owns 7 Mexican restaurants and this is how he's always served it and it's just better this way.
Even though I didn't appreciate the tone and condescending attitude of the owner I bit my tongue since he seemed to be of Mexican decent, owns 7 restaurants so who am I to question what authentic guacamole is? I let it go, and he did take it off the bill since we weren't happy with it.
When I got home I searched google for a few minutes trying to see what real "Authentic Mexican guacamole" is. It's not this. I couldn't find a single recipe or picture or how-to cook tutorial on youtube with anything resembling this save for one obscure example in a sea of 1000s of others that show the traditional smashed avocado version that we were expecting.
Food was decent, prices were ok. 2 stars for that. Will not be returning.
