We usually go there for the Tuesday Bagel special. However, today, we went for lunch and it was good. I usually get a breakfast sandwich but I had one of their speciality lunch sandwiches and it was very tasty. Great place for bagels.
Update: 07/29/21- I just went in there today. Had a $8.99 coupon for a dozen and then got a regular bagel with cream cheese. I believe I was overcharged. Now, now sure if my coupon was expired or not, however manager (owner, Peggy), was extremely rude on the phone. We have been going here since high school. Quite a long time. Very disappointed with the customer service from the owner. Now, am I one to rip a coupon, and not check the date? Absolutely, I will admit to that. But if it’s expired, call me out, I will gladly pay for the price. However, I will not advise to treat customers that way on the phone. Especially when myself and my family have been going for years and we always get multiple things. Just so disheartening to hear an owner speak to a customer like that. I had a 5 star rating but after today, 1 star and not sure if we will be coming back. Now, when I found a bug in my drink from the fountain Dispenser, I never complain. I informed the staff girl working and she apologized. No problem. But this…I was nice about it cause I love this place. But that kind of customer service was not okay. If it was expired, please let me know. Don’t just charge me, inform me, so I know. But don’t be rude. I cannot recommend this place...
Read moreI cannot say enough nice things about this place. Not only is it one of the best places to get food in Elgin, but the staff is consistently over the moon amazingly kind. I've been coming here since 2012 and it's 2024 now. Well I do see familiar faces, I also understand that they have turnover with younger employees. As a business owner myself, it goes and speaks volumes to the management and ownership of the business and how they treat the employees to show such an aptitude for a customer experience. Especially with a younger workforce. The bagels are amazing, but the service has always been hands down the best part. As a business we are proud to share Elgin with an outstanding example of customer experience like the staff who work and own the Big Apple bagels in my hometown.
As a bonus, the Swiss melt bagels might be my absolute favorite thing to eat. And the southern bagel sandwich with the Swiss melt bagel and a slice of Swiss cheese and bacon, I think I need to turn around and go order...
Read moreBig Apple Bagels is a surprisingly immersive experience for something that could have been ordinary. From the moment you walk in, the aroma hits(fresh, warm, inviting) like they’ve bottled the essence of a morning in New York. The staff are unexpectedly thoughtful, greeting you by name if you’re a regular, and guiding you through options without pressure. Each bagel is perfectly chewy, toasted to just the right degree, and paired with spreads that feel handcrafted rather than mass-produced. I ordered a classic with cream cheese, and it was balanced, rich, and comforting in a way that made me pause mid-bite. Even small details(like the freshness of the toppings and the temperature of the coffee) are executed with care. Sitting down to eat, I felt like the shop cared not just about food, but about creating a genuine little moment of satisfaction. Big Apple Bagels turns a simple breakfast into something memorable, and I left thinking I’d come back not just for the bagels, but for the...
