Chan’s Garden Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Elgin

5/17/2025 - I've been coming here 3 to 4 times a week for the past 3 months(?). This is, by far, the best Chinese Restaurant I've been to in many many years. I always order the same thing, Vegetable Chop Suey. Every time it's excellent. $7.54 after tax for a complete meal. That can't be beat. It comes with 5 mushroom slices. Always 5. I don't like mushrooms so I pick them out. But I don't say anything because maybe they add a flavor to the Chop Suey. I included 2 more pics of tonight's meal. So good!

I found this place last week and ordered the Beef & Broccoli. It was delicious! The beef was tender, and I don't know how they do that. I ordered from them three more times last week, and they're consistent—each time, the food was just as delicious.

Tonight, I stopped by on my way to work and ordered the Beef Chop Suey (see pic). It tasted just like the chop suey I used to get as a kid growing up in Addison, IL. There was a place on the corner of Mill & Lake, next to Milly's Pancake House.

Anyway, I ordered the small size, but it’s a full plate, and there was more in the container. The price is very reasonable too. You can go to that fast food place with the girl with the pigtails, get a single, fries, and a drink, and it costs more than this. This place is awesome!

First time there (7/13/23). The people were very nice. However the food was bland, no taste whatsoever. I ordered Mongolian beef which should have some spice to it... but none. I did not ask for non-spicy. And they offer no combo deal or dinner special. I wanted shrimp fried with my beef and they say you have to buy a separate order. They won't let you substitute it instead of white rice. I thought they could have for a dollar or two more... but no. I only had 2 pieces of onion with the beef which I thought they could have given more. They did give a good amount of beef though, but which had no taste. The egg roll I ordered was bland as well. And I heard the guy up front (who was a nice young man) answer the phone and say they don't deliver. ?????? And you can't dine in either. They have plenty of dining space with many seats, and it's actually a nice-looking place. The pandemic has been over for nearly a year now... people like to dine in as well. And it's a chance for your staff to get tips. Thanks for being nice...

Horrible costumer service!!! I placed a order drove 20 minutes out to pick it up drive 20 minutes all the way back, to come to find out after dumping half my order out I realized they got a part of my order wrong. I called up there the young guy tells me they are going to just remake my entire order. Mind you the order they gave me had food I was allergic too, so after being told my order would be made all over and too just return the incorrect order. So I drive 20 minutes back to receive my new "correct order. I get there the lady tells me I can't get the entire order back because I didn't return the food I already had touched. She then stated " no sorry we can't give you new order because you didn't return entire old order" I tried to explain what her employee said. She told me go back home and come back then she will reheat my order that I left at home. I work with over 700 people a day and I've referred this place to at least 30 of my clients and I will never refer anybody here again. Horrible...
