First time visit and did not see a sign for "Larsa's Kitchen" on the building but rather the signage was for "The Big Skillet". That was confusing. There was plenty of parking at "The Big Skillet" and yes they do have "Larsa's" menu on a section of the menu. Perhaps two restaurants share this location? We were greeted and seated by an elderly woman that was not rude nor pleasant, she was strictly business. She brought us our beverages and said someone would be back to take our order. After 10 minutes a server did arrive and was very apologetic for the long wait and explained it was due to shift change. He was very courteous and friendly and was an excellent server. We ordered 2 different chicken dishes with hummus and rice. One of the meals was delicious and well prepared and the other not so much due to the chicken being dry and somewhat tasteless. The prices were reasonable and the facility was neat and clean. Other reviews are what encouraged us to try this restaurant so perhaps another time may be more satisfying. Three stars is a fair rating for...
Read moreMaybe it's us, but we were disappointed. We eat Middle Eastern food at least once a week, and we travel up to 20 miles for it. We didn't feel like going to Mundelein today so we tried Larsa's for the second time. Maybe we hit an off day. The soup had good flavor, but was very thinned with water - could taste the water. The dolmades filling was pasty. The tsatsiki and garlic sauces were very, very watery and so had no taste at all. No one on the staff spoke at all except to call out our order. The first time we were here, we also noted smaller than usual portions and lunch for 2, served in take out styrofoam, was $40. The restaurant is in a gas station. We saw one other customer come in, and it was 12:30 in the afternoon. Everyone is entitled to an off day, but we won't be back. So weird to see all the...
Read moreI recently visited this Mediterranean spot, which shares its space with an American breakfast kitchen—a unique setup that works really well! Both cuisines are served in the same place, creating a diverse menu.
The Mediterranean food was fantastic—super authentic with generous portion sizes that left us completely satisfied. The flavors were rich, and everything tasted fresh.
My only feedback is that I wish they allowed substitutes on the menu. It would be nice to have a bit more flexibility with the dishes.
Overall, a great spot for anyone craving a mix of Mediterranean and American breakfast options. I’d definitely...
