I hate to give this place a 1 star review because the food is great. We have order food from Maciano’s many times in the past and never once had an experience so bad.
My wife ordered online and was expecting the food to be at our house around 5pm when I get home from work, and it did. As I’m pulling into into my subdivision I see the delivery driver taking the pizza to the door. I drive my neighbor to work everyday so as I was dropping him off, I get a frantic call from an unknown number, the delivery driver, saying “I have a pizza or something for you” and went on to complain about how the sign on our door says “do not knock or ring doorbell” because my wife is a night nurse and sleeps during the day. As I was trying to tell him to just ring the door bell he went on to complain more and talk over me. After he finally hangs up, I park my car, go inside to find my wife in tears on the phone with the manager on duty at Macianos. The delivery driver had ended up badgering and talking down to my wife about how the sign on the door makes it difficult for him to do his job and how she needs to take it down. After trying to defend herself, telling him she’s sorry but she needs to sleep during the day and that we have dogs that will bark if someone rings the doorbell, he went on to explain how he ALSO works over night and he’s really tired too but it’s still not an excuse to have up a sign because it makes it inconvenient for him.
The manager was very apologetic and agreed to pull the drivers tip. My words can’t do the situation justice, but if my hard as nails wife was brought to tears over the disgusting behavior of the pizza delivery man, I hope everyone can understand that this mans actions were very uncalled for. I would like to restate that the food is actually amazing, and every other customer service experience we have had has been great. But going forward, I will specifically ask for this driver to not come to our house ever again.
Everyone should take the time and think about how you treat others. You never know, the person you talk down to today might be the person saving your life in the...
Read moreThe Elgin location used to be great. Then for the last 3 times we have ordered from there it has been a disaster. The first time, they completely forgot about our order and had to make it when we showed up to pick it up. There were no apologizes or anything else. Management basically said, "Oh Well. We are making it now." The second time I showed up for my pizza to pick up about 50 minutes, (when they told us 45) and I had to wait another 40 minutes to get my pizza. There were about 20 people packed all waiting for their pizza to go. The third time was this Saturday when we decided to order through DoorDash. The driver had to give it to another driver because again it took over 2 hours to get our pizza!!!! The driver told us that the people running the place inside told everyone that ordered their pizza online or called in that they were second and that they were going to make sure the entire restaurant that was sitting there would get all their food first. Who says that to a person?!! This location used to be great and the food is still great, but what my husband and I have both noticed is that now this location is run by teenagers who do NOT know how to run a restaurant. I have seen them work first hand on people not knowing where to seat the guests inside and then not having a care in the world that there is a line of 20 people waiting to pick up their orders. They do not care and no one is helping them that is an actual adult who knows how to run a restaurant. A THIN CRUST pizza should NEVER take over 2 hours to get delivered. I am disappointed to say that we will no longer even order from there because clearly the owners and management do not care about their customers anymore and continuously get worse with their service. I am not one to write reviews, but this is just crazy. The food is excellent, but waiting for over an hour and then not having people who know how to run the place, or even care is so...
Read moreWe started ordering here in the beginning of the pandemic. Our first order had a little hiccup, reached out about the issue and a manager called me almost instantaneously to address the complaint and gave a free pizza on the house next time. We did give them a second chance since their location is so convenient to my home. Next our was a success. We typically order a 16-18” thin crust half sausage and half sausage with green bell peppers, onion, and mushroom with a 12 piece order of plain well done chicken wings. The pizza is cooked to perfection, not too well done, perfect crunch. The wings are also cooked to our liking, so much so that my 8 year old who claims doesn’t like wings.. will eat half an order. We have also tried their cinnamon breadsticks which are super soft and perfectly seasoned with cinnamon. Some places put an overbearing amount of cinnamon. Only thing I would recommend is icing on the side to go with! Either way, I highly recommend Macianos!!
4 years later, I need to edit and make sure I give kudos to Kate at the front of the house. She was so welcoming and helpful to customers as I waited in line for my pick up order. I’ve placed many pick up orders in the past 4 years from Maciano’s and I must say that Kate’s customer service stood out the most! She was at the front counter all alone with a big smile and ready to help the next customer....
