Papa Johns Pizza — Restaurant in Elgin

I ordered 2 Medium Pizzas with coupon for 11 bucks. I have had problems before, actually almost every single time, with this place, but decided to give it another try. My daughter had ordered the week before and it was really good, even though they didn't cut it at all. No biggie, we can cut it ourselves.Well, it was delivered in about an hour, nice and hot and smelled delicious. Tried to get the middle pieces out for my dad, and couldn't-they were stuck to the box. The reason they were stuck? Because they were RAW!! Not under-cooked, but raw. The other pizza was slightly more done, but the dough was still pretty much raw. I had to bake them for 30 min before we could eat them, and they were still slightly under-cooked dough-wise. What we could eat was tasty, but for 15 bucks or so, it was a total rip-off. The outer edge was at least one inch thick, and because it was raw when we got it, it did not bake right after I tried cooking it again. There was about one itty bitty piece of green pepper on each piece, and you had to dig for the onions. This is it for me, deal or not, it's useless if you can't eat the product. This has happened so often I don't think they know how to cook a pizza, and most of the time they have cut it, if at all, wrong. Squares mean squares, not wedges (no middles with wedges), I have had the pizza all over to one side, lack of ingredients, but raw dough is the most common complaint. The mgr has always been very nice and corrected the problem for me, and the drivers have always been polite, but getting a replacement pizza is not a solution. When you order pizza for your family, (in my case, grandkids, daughter and father), you want to be able to eat it then and there, and you want to know it is cooked properly and safe to eat. Dominos and Pizza Hut have good pizza, and I have never had a problem with either one of them. Larkin Ave Papa John's, your food quality is disgusting. Save your money, people, and go...

RE: MONDAY NIGHT AT THE FIGHTS.... WENT TO THIS PLACE TO GET A PIZZA AND SOME KNOTS. IT WAS ALREADY PLANNED THAT THIS WOULD BE OUR LAST TIME BECAUSE THE NIGHT BEFORE THEY WOULDN'T MAKE A DELIVERY TO MY HOUSE EVEN THOUGH THEY STILL HAD AN HOUR BEFORE DELIVERY CUT OFF TIME.. THE TIME BEFORE THAT WHEN THEY DID DELIVER THE KNOTS WERE DRIED UP WITH NO SAUCE AND THE ORDER WAS SHORTED 4 KNOTS. THE PIZZA WAS UNDERCOOKED AND I DIDN'T GET MY PEPPERS. SO, I GO THERE TO GET MY LAST ORDER EVER, ONLY BECAUSE OF THE REPLACEMENT KNOTS AND WHAT DO I GET TREATED TO? A PHYSICAL ALL OUT FIST FIGHT, ROLLING AROUND ON THE FLOOR, FLIPPING EACH OTHER- IT WAS INSANE. AND THE GENERAL MANAGER JUST CALMLY WATCHES WHILE THIS GOES ON FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES AND THIS WAS 2 EMPLOYEES THAT WERE FIGHTING, I CALLED THE POLICE, AND JEEZE THEY RESPONDED SO QUICKLY 8 MINUTES TO GET THERE AND ALL THREE POLICE VEHICLES SHOWED UP AT THE SAME TIME. I JUST HATE TO THINK HOW LONG THEY WOULD TAKE IF IT WAS A REAL EMERGENCY (SARCASM) VERY TRAUMATIZING, ESPECIALLY FOR MY WIFE WHO HAS NEVER EXPERIENCED SUCH BARBARIC BEHAVIOR IN HER LIFE. Everyone in this place must have been fired. The reviews from two years ago are not true anymore. This place has really turned around. The assistant manager really busts his but to go the extra mile for the customer. He is funny, likes to joke a lot.

I haven't had a single mess up (yet). I is October 2015, and I have been ordering from here biweekly since July. Delivery has always been on time. Food has always been well cooked and correct.

I don't know about the supposed "sugar sauce" but taste is subjective. If you used to order from here but stopped because of the service. It really deserves a chance.

P.S. Ask for Ivan he will take care of you. He really has the customers best interest at heart. He will take care of you.

P.P.S. I made a call in about my order with a question. I never heard someone sound so concerned about delivering a pizza. He will MAKE your experience a good one.

Update 9- 29 - 2016 service has greatly improved. Employees are going the extra mile like I Ivan now. It's the little things, they walk around the corner to hand you your stuff rather than tossing it over a counter, and I even had a delivery woman hold the door open as I left. They are making great...
