Rosati's Pizza — Restaurant in Elgin

The guy who answers phone call orders. Purposely added $5 to my order. Here's what happened:

I ordered The Cheef (cheesy Italian beef sub) for my mother who's sick in the hospital. When I called. I ordered it with no au jus (juice) and to add an extra two au jus on the side. He told me the order came out to $18.86 with delivery charge and tax. I found that odd for the sandwich by itself had a subtotal of $8.

I went online. Made the EXACT same order. It came out to $13.86 with tax and delivery. The guy on the phone purposely added $5 to the order. Maybe he wanted to add a tip for himself. Or his delivery driver friend. I always tip for I am a service worker myself. He knew the hospital my mother was staying at (he knew the address when I told him the name). And since she cannot personally get the order (neither can I). He (probably) assumed there would be no tip for his or his friends efforts.

I called the store again to speak to a manager. She confirmed to me that the order was $13.86. Said he must have added something extra. Even though he confirmed the order with me. The same order I made online.

The tax would have been higher too. For the sales tax in Illinois is 6.25%. So adding an item that costs $5 more. Would have made the total $19.125 the items (8+2+3+5(forced tip)) times the tax rate (18*1.0625).

There you go. Math proves this was purposely done. This Rosati's is not trust worthy. When they take advantage of the situation like this. And in my case. My sickly mother. Order online. If you can order somewhere else, or another Rosati's. Do it! This Rosati's will take advantage of you. Managers seeming defend this action.

Funny thing is. I was planning to tell them to add a $5 tip...

4/7/25 We are NEVER ordering again. Place delivery order at 4:45 pm and was told it would be here in an hour. An hour and a half later I still didn't have my order. Called them and after being on the phone for 5 min was informed there computer wasn't working right and they didn't know where the order was going. The driver was just leaving and as a consolation they gave me a 2 liter of RC. The order can 15 min later. The pizza, mushrooms and breadsticks were cold. $60 for this with a tip. Also think you delivery driver should be appropriately dressed not in pajama pants.

February 14, 2023 I ordered a 20" Monster pizza and an order of mushrooms via the website at 5pm. I called them an hour and a half later and was told that the online was done and they never received my order. I was charged for the pizza when I ordered and the girl told me the money would be refunded in 24-48 hrs. I still have not gotten my $60.19 back. I was providing lunch for a big meeting with 30 people today and my originally booked caterer canceled 45 minutes beforehand. I was stressed but this Rosati’s location stepped up and totally saved the day and I am absolutely impressed and grateful. They prepared and delivered chicken parmesan, fettucine alfredo, italian beef, three jumbo pizzas, two huge salads, and individual deserts in less than an hour. The staff at the office I met with said it was hands down the best lunch they have ever had provided. Jamil and Selena were the delivery employees who made three trips to the third floor and even went back to the restaurant to get a forgotten item for us. The man who took the order (I unfortunately did not catch his name) was phenomenal. I cannot thank them all enough. I will be using them for every catering need I have when in the Rockford/Elgin area going forward. This location went way above and beyond for me...
