Sorry this is not to put them down. But, I read all the reviews including Trip Advisor and went here this evening with my family. The Chips and Salsa was the worst I have had in any Mexican restaurant. I thought, ok let us see how the food is, so I ordered the Original Burrito and my wife ordered another mexican dish. We both felt that we were cheated by all these reviews and do people even know what is Mexican food? We have tried around in Elgin area for the last 1 year after we moved here, and there is no good Mexican restaurants here that are authentic. All say that it is Authentic. I went here mainly after reading a review from a woman who moved from California, and she said that after moving to Illinois that she found this to be the best. LOL, I cracked up after eating today. What kind of taste bud she has or food taste she has. We went to California recently and we tried in El Torito, that was one of the best Mexican food, I have ever had in the USA. My Mexican co-workers were laughing at me for that itself. But, anyway, I did not find the food good and bland and it was also expensive in Sammy's. But, again, the crowd we saw there was really great. But, I really don't think so that people know what is the taste of food. They just feel good because they think it is good for them. My wife said, that people might come here to drink and after they drink they are not going to know the taste, so they might feel it is good. Sorry, my honest opinion on this.
I am not going back again. If you go to LA area or Cypress area, go try El Torito in those areas, and you anyone after eating here come back and write a review and let me know that what you feel about it. The Burrito I have had my best is somewhere in North Chicago where there is an Authentic Mexican restaurant and the Burrito is size of a Football. That is the best Burrito I have had in Chicago. I forgot the name of that restaurant and it has branches around Chicago but in few places. Not, sure the name. I wish I could remember. But, the Burrito in Sammy's was cold, and there was no taste even after putting the red and green sauces.
Sorry guys I usually never write...
Read moreWhen we first arrived on a Saturday evening, the place was packed. When I asked how long the wait was, the lady up front told us it would be a 30-45 minute wait. I told her that is way too long of a wait for two people, her response was “bye” in a snarling sarcastic way. She didn’t give me the chance to ask if the bar had a wait time. Maybe she didn’t mean it that way, maybe there was a language barrier, whatever. We ended up sitting at the bar and were able to get two chairs at the end, next to the kitchen. The decor was nice, traditional Mexican with a modern sports bar type vibe. They had ALL Mexican beer on tap which was pretty cool. The menu is pretty big, lots to choose from. They started us off with a basket of tortilla chips and salsa. The chips weren’t bad but they are definitely out of a bag, not home made. The salsa was watered down and had no flavor. I ordered a frozen mango margarita which was delicious but could of used a little more alcohol for the price. The waiter we had was friendly, attentive and on top of his game. Slightly disappointed we didn’t get a female server cause here at Sammys, they are all smoking hot. I ended up ordering the steak enchiladas suizas with the red sauce, my wife had the 3 steak taco dinner. My enchiladas were really good but not great, the steak tasted like it was made in a pot,and NOT flame or charcoal grilled which was disappointing. Same with my wife’s tacos. The beans and rice were good, however the rice was a little over cooked. The food came out super fast, which was great but this is probably why the quality is lacking. It appears nothing here is made to order, it’s all precooked and the guys back there just slap it together as they receive the orders. Overall, not a bad Mexican restaurant, the ambiance is cool and lively with plenty of eye candy. Not a place I would bring a group of people to, but as a place to have a few drinks at the bar. We will most likely be back to try other things on the menu, maybe during the week when it’s...

I came in with my family for a dinner because we wanted to try something new for a change and though why not mexican? So we arrived and even though the place was half empty the lady said 10 minutes at least when i asked can we sit there because a lot of tables are open she said those are reserved strange that i didn't see a single reserved sign on the tables. So we wait and eventually get seated. We order and wait for what seems like 40 minutes i think they did that on purpose just so we order more drinks anyway the food comes and my wifes order is totally not what she ordered and now we are all left sitting looking at our food but not eating to be impolite.... 25 minutes later she got he enchilada and finally we get to eat, ill say this i never thought it was possible to mess up simple french fries they where soggy and bland and even the chicken rough and over seasoned This is not at all the worst part after coming home and going to bed i awoke to my wife throwing up on the floor steps to the bathroom she didn't make it to the toilet in time i guess and like a knife to the stomach i could feel the after taste with every burp and after 2 hours of suffering at 6am i finally threw up as the sun was rising. I had to call my brother to ask if he was sick and to no surprise he was already at the doctor, for better part of 4 days i was feeling ill. If you want to play russian roulette with your stomach this is the place to go and i thought i had the...
